For a while, pork and chicken were both hard to source in Singapore.

We used to have restaurants.

We were serving Peranakan delicacies and cuisine.

We were ranked by Reuters and Guardian to be offering the best airport food around the world, not just Singapore.

But unfortunately, we had to let the restaurant business go.

This visitor center right now used to be a restaurant.

But we had to let it go because in 2009, there was an economic crisis, and just nice in Singapore, there was a turning point where there was a manpower crunch.

I asked Edmund directly, does this neighborhood still actually have Peranakan roots, or is that more branding than reality today?
