Eddie Glaude is absolutely amazing.

And Eddie is one of those people, I have been in the room with him, Senator Sanders, former Senator Nina Turner, and others, and I've seen him crack a whip on elected officials on the behalf of the people.

It's where we begin the hour.

Anne, and to have you at the table, um, sort of experiencing this moment both as a journalist covering it, but also with, um, an incredible depth of, of sources and knowledge of how the world sees America.

Uh, we're back with Judge Luttig and Applebaum and Eddie Glaude.

That was, um, MS Now's White House correspondent Laura Barón-Lopez asking Mayor Mondale a question, um, and Donald Trump.

Okay, so this is going back to last week, and people can go online and vote for the one that they think is the worst.

So our nominees this week is, our nominee number one is Eddie Glaude of MS Now, who reacted to a clip of Vice President J.D. Vance saying that we're being tired of called racists for noticing that our country was becoming dirtier and poorer and less safe and less prosperous.

Well, Glaude's reaction was, he's tired of being called a racist.

He's not necessarily tired of being

racist.

That happened on September 12th.

So that's Eddie Glaude's reaction to J.D. Vance.

Once again, the left thinking everything about racism, just wanting to have things be safe and prosperous.

I, I'll give you a quick example and then we'll get back on to the news of the day.

Eddie Glaude Jr, that dude that shows up on PMS now all the time, I thought to myself the other day, "This is new jumping through hoops to race hustle." And I'll just play you the clip and get your reaction.

I mean, I think part of what we haven't done enough is to dissect, to deconstruct the ideology that informs Trumpism, that MAGA isn't reducible to the personality of Donald Trump even though it's, it's the engine.

But there's a kind of ideological apparatus with a host of assumptions about who possesses the country, about racial hierarchy.

All, and he, it...

I know.

Well, and the thing is with those two clips- Razzle dazzle with that, yeah ... with Sonny Hostin and Eddie Glaude Jr, you know there are older White liberal women going, "Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm." Oh, yeah.

What they haven't said, though, is if that context will return, too.

And joining me here in the studio is Eddie Glaude Jr., MSNOW political analyst, Princeton University professor and author, his latest book titled America, USA, How Race Shadows the Nation's Anniversaries.

Eddie, it is so good to see you.

Oh, my goodness.

The biggest contradiction was the institution of slavery in a republic that made freedom its central article of faith.

Eddie Glaude is an acclaimed author and distinguished professor of African American Studies at Princeton University.

And at the 2026 Aspen Ideas Festival, he spoke with classical pianist Lara Downes about the ways in which racism and the legacies of slavery perverted the ideals America was founded on and shaped its culture, especially its musical culture.

Their conversation opened with a discussion of Amazing Grace, a song written in 1772 by John Newton, a British slave trader turned abolitionist.
