Yes
17:34
... by women's standards than the equivalent men are going to be.
17:38
So something has to take hold which, uh, forces them to, uh, um, to, to, to take these risks, uh, and, and, and, and to be, uh, low in the conscientiousness and, and to be very, very highly neurotic and all of these kinds of things that make, that, that push you towards genius in a way that is not the case among the men.
17:58
And so what I found, uh, with an N of 10, but it was stonkingly statistically significant because of the rarity of the disorder in question, is that the majority of these, uh, acknowledged female geniuses would reach the cutoff point for a condition known as borderline personality disorder.
18:19
And, uh, borderline personality disorder is a cluster B Uh, t- uh, condition, so it's related to things like narcissism and Machiavellianism and psychopathy.
18:29
But, uh, 75% of the cases are female.
18:34
Um, it is about 50% genetic.
DanHOST
21:52
Right.

And he was only 37 as well, so he was, um, he was relatively young, uh, when he was appointed.
8:26
Indeed, he was Cambridge University's, uh, youngest ever Black professor and, uh, one of its few Black professors.
8:33
Now, we all know the reasons why there aren't that many Black professors, but nevertheless, you know, Claudine Gay and all that, you can see what was going on here.
8:41
Uh, this person was manifestly unqualified for the job and was given the job because he was a Black person, and indeed a Black person with an interesting backstory.
8:53
Uh, the backstory was that he was diagnosed as autistic at the age of three, that he didn't learn to speak in...
9:00
He, he was a mute autistic until he was twel- almost 12.

And so I, I'm curious, to what degree is this a systemic problem in education? A systemic issue of finding basically clients and promoting them above their station.
DanHOST
6:40
Hmm.
6:40
Well, I looked into the, uh, into the, into the Brian Deans you have in Stockport, one born and died in 1939, one who marries a Janet Brindley in 1970, but he st- I've tracked them down.
6:55
He was still alive in 2008.
6:58
Um, and so he's clearly the one that was born in 1947, and then you have another one born in 1932 and dies in 1988, and that seems to be, uh, Angela's grandmother, this Brian... uh, grandfather, this, um, this Brian Dean.
7:14
It says on his death certificate that he, that he was born i- uh, in 1932, which makes sense then because then he gets married in 1959.
7:22
So I don't know what's going on.
7:25
Um, is it that she has 10 siblings whose births weren't registered? Is it that she has 10 siblings that were born abroad, which seems unlikely considering the poverty they were supposedly brought up in? Uh, is it that Brian came with a series of illegitimate children that were all registered under his mother's, under his, um, uh, under the mother's surname?

Yeah
3:31
Yeah
3:31
... their, their theory of mind is bad, and there's one model that is, is...
3:34
I think it's a simplification, but this is Simon Baron-Cohen's model, which is that basically it's, the, the two things are the opposite of each other.
3:40
So you, you are either, um, a, a autistic, as it were, that is you are high in systematizing, but you are low in empathy, uh, or the opposite extreme, which he calls, that's the male brain, or which he calls the female brain, which is that you are high in empathy, but you are kind of system blind.
3:57
Um, and so- Can you do me a favor? If you get value from these conversations, hit subscribe.
4:04
Th- that's the nature of the autistic, and so how does this move into the kinds of people that are gonna have influence at the extremes? Well, if you look at the, um, what I've called in some research I've done, uh, books I've done, whatever, the, the, the, the genius type, the person that comes up with highly original ideas or is prepared indeed to question the system, to rock the boat, what predicts that? Well, if you're low in agreeableness, then you, um, either don't have the cognitive empathy to realize new ideas always offend.
4:33
You don't have the cognitive empathy to realize that your ideas offend.
