Your Cortisol Isn't the Issue. The Doritos Are.

Love that book.

Um, but anyway, he really describes dopamine as kind of like the learning neurochemical, which I really liked that in the sense of it, it kind of tells you to keep doing whatever you just did.
E
3:32EC SynkowskiGUEST
And so that dopamine high is this sort of message to yourself to, okay, repeat what you did.

And when we eat calorically dense foods from an evolutionary perspective, you wanna remember that we would want to keep doing that because food was scarce.

Stop Letting Tech Do the Work: The Old-School Method That Actually Makes Diet Changes Stick

... knowing it's the right one, which is a little bit disconcerting, but I think there's a little bit of that there.
E
33:28EC SynkowskiGUEST
I will say the other hiccup that I've seen people have is if they try to do what I've described out of the gates, and let's say they're currently doing macros now, and they haven't been able to sustain it, they haven't been able to see results, and they wanna jump to my system, and they just wanna go weigh and measure their diet as now.
E
33:47EC SynkowskiGUEST
I find that they have a very difficult time releasing the idea of what they think their diet should be.
E
33:53EC SynkowskiGUEST
Like, if they've been targeting seventeen hundred calories from, uh, whatever coach or app or tracker, when they go to weigh and measure their diet, they're gonna try to fit themselves into seventeen hundred calories, 'cause it's the system that they've sort of come out of.
E
34:05EC SynkowskiGUEST
So one of the things I like about the Three Pillars method, it's certainly a secondary benefit to my original intent, but I have people go through the Three Pillars method process where we don't actually look at calories and macros to start.

We look at the weights of your fruits and veggies, and then we look at the protein.
