Easton

And I know you'll be filling in for John at home or work or wherever you are.

So without any further ado, are you ready to hear something crazy? When the body of Devin Guzman was discovered by her friends the morning following her disappearance, the police of Easton, Pennsylvania had a difficult case ahead of them, as nothing was as it seemed and almost no one was to be trusted.

Police say the suspect, 31-year-old Jeffrey Dahmer, has confessed to the killings of 11 people whose remains were found in his apartment.

We are all evil in some form or another, are we not?

From the very beginning, this case took the detectives 100 miles an hour through twists and turns until it ended abruptly at trial.

And that's the road we're about to embark on now.

There were not a lot of murders in Easton, Pennsylvania.

So when this happened, the entirety of the police force got involved.

I'm not sure what they did.

But Michelle returned to Carrie's later that morning with breakfast and proposed that the women drive around Easton, Pennsylvania-

Mm

... searching for Devin's vehicle, because her vehicle was also missing.

Anyway, uh, thank you everyone for listening to this case today.

We love the interest listeners take in our topics we cover, and we'll see you next time on Women in Crime.

[gentle music] It's been more than 25 years since 19-year-old Devon Guzman was found murdered in the backseat of her car in Easton, Pennsylvania.

And if you remember this case, you probably remember just how tangled the relationships were.

[chuckles] You know? There's gotta be a good dose of mutual hatred in a rivalry.

Ma- uh, one of our coaches at, at Ocean City, Rod Govern, played at Phillipsburg High School in New Jersey, a, a, a, uh, traditional powerhouse and one of the oldest football programs in the state of New Jersey, and their big rival is Easton High School, which is right across the, the Pennsylvania state line.

So it's an inter- uh, an interstate rivalry, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Phillipsburg, Easton.

And, and whe- whenever Rod talks abou- And Rod played in the NFL, and, uh, you know, so, so when he talks about his football career, it's very interesting to listen to him talk about his football career because when he really lights up, he's not talking about playing in college, playing in the Buffalo Bills.

He played in the Super Bowl with the Bills.

He talks about playing at Phillipsburg High and playing against Easton.

And, and, you know, it's got all of the elements, uh, that we mentioned here, competitiveness and frequency and spatial proximity.

But the thing that he said they really have more than anything else is mutual dislike, that those are two programs that while they respect one another, man, they hate each other.

I hope you already knew that.

There's still time to pick up some great seats for, uh, my performance in Easton, Pennsylvania at the State Theatre for the Arts.

That's right, on October 9th.

Easton, Pennsylvania, home of Crayola, huh? So come on down, pick up some crayons, uh, draw on some things, and, uh, come on over and see the show.

It's their 100th anniversary.

Let's celebrate.

Shout out to the Thanksgiving game.

Okay, that's every Thanksgiving, Easton versus Peabody, New Jersey.

But Easton PA is where I'm born and raised.

My upbringing, different.

Okay.

My two older brothers, they're my half brothers, but I don't think of it that way.

They're, they're my brothers.

And then, yeah, we just bounced around in Easton, played sports, you know, came from a big sports family,
