11:27
yeah.
11:27
Yeah.
11:27
Like sheep, sheep hunting for me is like, man, someday I got to figure out how to go on a sheep hunt, sheep hunt, sheep hunt.
11:33
and after doing the goat hunt like sure i would absolutely love to go shoot a dull sheep someday um still a dream of mine that hopefully i can find a way to fulfill but after doing the goat hunt it was like i kind of did it right i just had a different animal like it was the same yeah same type of hunt same type of terrain um you know i'm sure easier than some sheep hunts harder than some other sheep hunts but like i kind of did that hunt um and so yeah after after leaving i i will say like i have a newfound appreciation not that i didn't appreciate them before but of mountain goats like they're the coolest animal um and they take up far less wall space than a big bull elk or a moose so that's also cool because i don't have very much of it to spare but uh no man it was it was incredible like we got dropped off and night one saw a big grizzly uh probably 400 yards from where we set the tents like watched him had a wolverine run kind of like 30 yards through our camp that night sweet um and so it's just epic man we started seeing goats the next day uh lots of nannies and kids we were covering a ton of country just like hiking we'd hike up on a range and then spend like a day or so up there on top of that mountain range hunt it out um and then hike down camp fill up with water rehydrate hike up the next range and we did that probably four times um the other thing too like the the guy that i was with up there he had not hunted that country before so it was super cool like kind of figuring it out together right like it felt a little bit, and I think this is mostly a testament to like who he was and like how he hunted.
13:16
Um, and it was super fun because yeah, it felt like I was hunting with a buddy.
13:20
Like we were looking at the map together, right.
13:23
And figuring out the best way to get on or off a mountain.

6 MINS LATER

19:39
oh wow wow so you shoot a goat it tumbles like over 100 feet um i saw it its horn one of its horn broke off Is that devastating, you know?
4:42
Would you mind if I connected you guys?" I said, "No, of course not." And, and you and I connected, but if you could just kind of talk about, um, what it is that you were trying to do over the course of the next, you know, from that point when we had connected, the next six to nine months, and then you've got even bigger plans still yet to come.
5:02
Yeah.
5:02
So again, kind of back to the roots, right? I grew up in Eastern Montana.
5:07
Um, was no stranger to putting in some big hikes for mule deer and elk and, um...
5:15
As I've evolved, I, I have more of an aspiration of going on these more mountain-esque hunts and these more adventure hunts.
5:25
And I remember a conversation, this was with, uh, Jay from the Mountain Project and, and the Mountain Project guys probably f- four to five years ago, and we were just talking about, uh, Dall sheep hunts actually at the time.
5:38
And, you know, as we all know, the price of a Dall sheep hunt and just some of these hunts is going up and up and up and, you know, we're having a conversation and I was like, "Man, that is like the pinnacle for me is I want to get on a Dall sheep hunt.

20 MINS LATER

25:24
Do you feel like you got what you were hoping for through doing everything that you had done? How did that go on the hunt? How did it, you know, translate into what you, what you, what you saw on the hunt? And is there anything that you plan on changing between that hunt in May and then the one that you have that's coming up?

21:58
Kraft Mac & Cheese, best thing ever.
22:05
Yeah.
22:06
And that's where you'll get to a point too that, and you, you and I definitely do this subconsciously, whether you're looking for access points first or key areas that's going to hold out first, like you're going, you're going to subconsciously kind of do both at the same time a little bit.
22:22
So as I'm marking access points, I might zoom out and be like, "Oh, that looks like a really cool ridge system.
22:28
Looks like it holds water.
22:29
Like I'm going to come back to that because it looks really elky next to an access point." Right.
22:33
But to your, your point there, like absolutely agree.
27:30
Here's, here's something to look for," that you might be able to check out that, that knowing that there's cattle in these pastures?
25:16
Is there a shortcut or a tip that you've found that eliminates that to know, hey, you know, hey, just kind of a heads-up, here's, here's something to look for that you might be able to check out that knowing that there's cattle in these pastures?
25:33
Not necessarily.
25:34
There's, there's one thing that, that comes to mind, but to be completely honest with you, and I've had this happen countless times as well, it's the, the way of getting around that is not just e-scouting that one particular area that looks like your honey hole that's this is where you're gonna go kill that big bull or that big buck, right? Like, it's perfect.
25:52
It's got everything.
25:53
It's food, water, cover.
25:55
It looks amazing.
25:57
And you get there, and you're just like, "I've spent two days here, and I haven't heard a bull.
28:21
Mm

12:31
But you might find some hidden gems that you're like, "Oh, yeah, maybe I don't want this on all the time," but it is handy in certain instances.
12:38
Yeah.
12:38
There's a lot of layers I don't want on all the time, right? The slope angle, again, just to hammer that one, like, that is it for me.
12:44
That's a turn on, check it, turn off.
12:47
Like, go about my map.
12:48
'Cause yeah, uh, the base maps too, you've got your, your standard imagery, you've got your hybrid where you've got your topography and imagery, and then you've got just straight topo.
12:58
I, being in the West, like, if I could only choose one, I'm gonna choose topo, especially with our recent updates with LIDAR.

16:39
A little bit.
