Tell me about how that decision was made with you and Devon to, "Hey man, I think we should take these songs out on the road and do them justice."

Yeah, the revival started after Greg passed away.

Uh, Devon wanted to ...

Well he took a lotta time off so he took some time off after his dad passed away and he wanted to kinda have a comeback show with several people with his band.

And so I was one of the first people he asked which I am honored to this day.

It kind of turned into a thing where instead of doing it at a, at a cool venue in Florida that y- you know, he had played before, they got the idea to do it at The Fillmore in San Francisco.

And, um, yeah, I mean, that's just something that's really, you know, you wanna be ambitious and kinda figure out how to change it up and bring in a few new people, but also you want it to be, like, fun and, like, easy for everybody, or easy enough, you know what I mean? But we've kind of gotten it now to where we've kinda got it in a pretty comfy place, like the process.

Like, the last couple years we've actually done a little mini rehearsal, then gone home for a week and done Thanksgiving, and then we don't have to, like, rush out and do a rehearsal, and then, like, you know, just kinda cram it all in at the last second.

So it's been really fun and I'm really proud of Devin.

I mean, it started out a- as a celebration of his dad's life really.

So talk to me about that song and why you wanted to start there, what that song means to you.

There's a lot of stuff that happened that...

You know, one time we were downtown scoring crack and it was me and some guys in Malibu and we got it and we were coming back to the freeway and there was a rave.

Like some late night party DJ thing and all these people were driving around.

And this fucking drunk driver runs a red light and hits us and we flip.

And we have all of this...

You know, the cops are everywhere.

And my friend, I'm just hoping that he doesn't like that he keeps it so we can fucking smoke it.

So that was before,

I guess some people would just be complacent, right? I mean, there's so many people in life who have been born into this great opportunity, and there may just be some complacency where that's not you at all, right? No, I never

When you started doing your solo work, did it feel like you were finally able to like scratch an itch that you were never able to get with some of the other opportunities that you have been had been doing?

Can you talk a little bit about that album title?

Dwayne had played in his father's solo band for 10 years.

Music and family go together.

I mean, that's just sacred, you know, playing music with your family.

There's times on stage when I look over at Devin and we just feel that we both know the spirit's there.

I'd be singing Melissa to 3,000 fans in Beacon Theater when I was like the forgotten kid, man.
