What are some of the parts of elite sports that in your mind leaders should take on and other parts that they shouldn't?
10:07
Yeah, look, sport, I've always said to people, because it's so visible, it's a great medium to learn from.
10:12
And not everything we do in life and business is as visible.
10:16
We know that.
10:16
I think goal setting in sport is really evident.
10:19
Not everyone loves goal setting, but for a group of people, you need to know where you want to get to.
10:23
I think the idea of simplicity is, So things don't be overly complex and all that sort of stuff.
14:58
In what you're doing, how do you manage a team to actually keep a very level performance or consistent performance without having the big ups and downs that we quite normally face?
0:45
What was your reaction to this decision? What are your main concerns?
0:51
I'm baffled by this decision.
0:53
The government have announced something that I understand even the stakeholders weren't aware that they were going to announce it.
0:58
It's a three-stage process, so they've only actually passed the first stage, which is really concerning.
1:02
They're not prioritising athlete fairness and integrity of the sport and events.
1:08
They're putting a venue on that's actually six hours from the hub of the Olympic Games.
1:12
So for me, it just blows my mind that rowing is letting this happen, but also the government seem to be wanting to gamble on the performances of the athletes.
1:25
Have you seen it? Will anyone see it? And what do we know they've looked into in regards to that report?
1:13
I believe that overseas representatives from the IOC, the International Olympic Commission, actually asked whether the crocodiles would be pinned up and they were told no, they're wild animals, they go where they want to go.
1:26
It's a pretty hilarious sort of series of questions, isn't it? I think my understanding right now is World Rowing's turning their attention to it.
1:34
They're aware of it.
1:35
The IOC, International Olympic Committee are across it.
1:38
I just feel like not enough action's happening.
1:39
And if you think about the Sydney Olympic Games and how successful that was, that Sydney venue is a legacy item for not only New South Wales but Australia.
1:47
That was started in the planning eight years before And it was delivered six years minimum before.
2:29
But Rockhampton's a long way away from Brizzy, isn't it?
9:30
If you were to, you know, for the leaders listening to this podcast and those who will be at the conference with us in only a few short weeks, what are some of the parts of elite sports that in your mind leaders should take on and other parts that they shouldn't?
9:44
Yeah, look, sport, I've always said to people, because it's so visible, it's a great medium to learn from.
9:50

9:53

13:51
In what you're doing, how do you manage a team to actually keep a very level performance or consistent performance without having the big ups and downs that we quite normally face?
35:51
want to dodge now? I've got two,
35:52
so I can get three.
35:55
Now, I'll give you... 96 was interesting as a young kid, so I was 21 years of age.
36:02
A couple of things that happened, like making the Orson Forsey, that before hadn't succeeded in the entitlement title.
36:10
In Finland, Tampere, they'd come fifth.
36:12
The Italians were fine.
36:13
They'd set the world record of 48 and 45.

45 MINS LATER

Oh, it's
