What can you tell us is maybe the biggest difference between Tony at Tennessee versus the San Francisco Giants version of Tony Vitello?
10:22
Sure.
10:23
I think, um, you know, that's, that's a good question.
10:25
I think, you know, there's, there's part of it where, you know, you just play so many more games in, um, you know, professional baseball, where there's just this natural adjustment of life.
10:36
I- In, in college, right, you play 70 games max or whatever it is, and, um, you know, each, each game is like a football game, you know? And you can, you really can just give everything you got for one game.
10:49
Not that you don't do that here, but, you know, it's a little bit more of a build-up.
10:52
You have practice days during the week, and then you let loose on a weekend series.

9 MINS LATER

20:08
Hmm.
8:31
And, you know, as we watch you kind of become a dude right before our eyes, would you tell both the fans and those guys, hey, man, you just got to keep stacking reps? Because, you know, fans get very impatient, Drew.
8:44
Sure.
8:45
Sure, yeah.
8:46
Understandably so.
8:47
I mean, you get it from a fan's perspective, right? Like even when I watch games of, you know, like any sport, football, baseball, basketball, it's like, you're competitive, you know, as a fan, and you want things to go the way of your team.
9:03
Like, I get it, and they should never change that.
9:04
It's what makes Giants fans such great fans.

11 MINS LATER

20:11
That's my next step.
2:07
This show is going to air on a Tuesday so the timing might be a little bit off but It is a, I know you're a young guy, but it's a strange day around this Giants team, isn't it?
2:17
Yeah, no doubt.
2:17
I mean, you know, even when you're in the minor leagues, whether it was, you know, last year or years past for me, you understand that, you know, there's always potential for crazy things to happen, you know, and obviously we haven't put ourselves in a favorable position this year to, you know, maybe add, you know, so that kind of puts us in a position where, you know, we have really good players and, you know, you kind of understand that teams are probably going to want some of those players.
2:42
So, um, you know, it's, it, it can be a bittersweet day, right? Um, and you have guys you've formed relationships with and, uh, You know, when you're with each other every day for, you know, a long, long time, you know, however so many hours, you know, you get to know guys really well.
3:00
And so, you know, it's tough.
3:01
But like I said, we put ourselves in these situations.
3:04
But, you know, happy for those guys.
4:06
All right, give me a little self-assessment on the progress you've made, kind of the things you've been working on, how you feel like you're progressing.
0:59
I, I know you're a young guy, but it's a strange day around this Giants team, isn't it?
1:03
Yeah, no doubt.
1:03
I mean, you know, even when you're in the minor leagues, whether it was, you know, last year or years past for me, you, you understand that, you know, there's always potential for crazy things to happen.
1:13
Um, you know, and, uh, obviously we haven't put ourselves in a favorable position this year to, you know, maybe add.
1:20
Um, you know, so that kind of puts us in a position where, you know, we have really good players and, you know, you kind of understand that teams are probably gonna want some of those players.
1:28
So, um, you know, it, it, it can be a bittersweet day, right? Um, you know, you have guys you've formed relationships with and, uh, um, you know, when you're with each other every day for, you know, a long, long time, you know, however so many hours, uh, you know, you get to know guys really well.
1:45
Um, and so, you know, it's tough.
2:57
... how you feel like you're progressing.

30:28
Mm-hmmHow has practice been out there? How have you adjusted to that outfield, especially when that ball goes in the right center field gap?
30:37
Yeah, it's, uh, you know, it's unique.
30:39
I think, um, I think the biggest thing is- is just the wind, you know? Y- there's not really a predictable pattern with it.
30:47
Uh, there's not necessarily like flags you can look at and know, okay, the wind's blowing this direction today or this direction.
30:54
You know, it's, uh, you kinda just gotta keep your feet moving the whole time.
30:58
Even if you think you're camped, you just gotta kinda stay ready for the ball potentially, you know, blow one way or the other.
31:04
Um, and then, you know, I think there's certain times, whether it's like a 6:45 game where, uh, you get certain shadows that make it a little tough to see out there.

32:18
Uh, maybe behind the scenes, have you seen that from the start, or has it, uh, been an adjustment for him?
5:11
Um, m- is he gonna show that intensity for 162 games? Do you think there's gonna be a difference in the way he coached at Tennessee and manages in the big leagues?
5:20
No, I don't think it's gonna be as big of a difference as people think.
5:23
I mean, I saw him do it every single day for three years, you know, regardless of it, it was a game or practice.
5:29
Um, uh, how he, uh, probably was more intense in practice, so, and we practiced every single day, so I, I don't, I don't see any reason, uh, he's not gonna be able to bring it for 162.
5:40
Um, obviously it'll be unique to him 'cause it's the first time he's done it, but that goes for everybody, right? Like, um, you know, God willing, I get the chance to, you know, make the team, it'll be my first time, um, playing 162 games or being a part of 162 games, so I think everybody goes through.
5:56
It's, it's the first time he's done something, but that goes for anything in life.
5:59
The first time you do something, you know, it's gonna present challenges that you aren't prepared for 'cause you just haven't done it.
7:18
Can you see that? Like, you guys, especially when you got there, you guys kind of showed a little bit on the field last year.
