I'm really ready for this conversation and can't wait to hear your story behind it.
52:02
All right.
52:03
So I guess just to start, I can explain what it is.
52:05
And so it's a free self-reflection and accountability tool designed for young people who are questioning whether they caused harm and are looking for ways to resolve that, understand what happened, and move towards repair and rebuilding relationships and reducing harm.
52:24
Okay.
52:26
And so as a survivor-founded and youth-led organization making a tool for young people who caused harm, it took a different tact, right? And so the sort of interest in that population of people of needing to make a resource for them really came from my obsession with Reddit threads.
52:49
That's really where it started, its origin, was just seeing this growing trend of young people going to Reddit and posting questions like, I think I accidentally sexually assaulted someone.

59:22
Are there opportunities for people to connect young people with this tool, or what are your hopes for how it will be used?
BenHOST
2:35
My question is, what the heck is
2:37
that? Well, this is another trick one, because I was assuming it was medical terms, but Lee Fort Osteotonomy was a general on the Confederate side of the Civil War.
2:50
Sponsored by the French, right? Osteo-autonomy is a version of astrology where you, instead of thinking about the stars, you're thinking about the bones and like, what are you? Are you a meniscus? Well, then that means you have a personality.
3:06
I don't know.
3:07
But I, Lee Fort Osteo-autonomy, I have no idea what a Lee Fort is.
3:13
It sounds like something a tree nymph would have.
3:17
So you're
SteveGUEST
5:25
In the same mode.
75:21
Do your friends all beat you down to get customized weather reports as well?
75:25
You know, I do get that.
75:27
I get that all the time, especially since I've moved back.
75:31
I've had a lot of people texting me like, hey, can I get a weather forecast for this event? And I'm like, guys, I just started.
75:36
I just started two weeks ago.
75:38
Give me a little bit of time.
75:40
Fun fact, my wife is a meteorologist as well.
Kevin Turner

forecast for the winter?
2:18
Order of least importance?
2:20
Well, least importance has got to be Pete Delkis.
2:24
You've got to just start off the bat there.
2:26
You're doing this right, man.
2:27
You're doing this right.
2:28
Jesse doing all the hard work.
2:30
He's the most important.

What is your forecast for the winter?

28:48
And I
28:48
think in our experience at Safe Bay and working with young people, we don't experience it like that.
28:54
Like we don't feel like the young people who are causing harm to others are always doing it intentionally.
29:02
And more often than not, it does feel like they are genuinely unintentionally causing harm to someone else.
29:09
And that's a really difficult conversation and a difficult space to be in because it's really hard to try to hold someone accountable and be like, yes, you caused harm without equating them to those folks with sociopathic tendencies who are purposefully trying to cause harm to people.
29:25
And so really struggling with how do we balance these things? Because I don't think that the movement to end sexual violence has necessarily done that well and is not equipped for this conversation.
29:39
And so that's like one thing that we were seeing in our work.

don't have sex because you will get pregnant and don't have sex in the missionary position don't have don't have sex standing up just don't do it promise
8:23
What do you mean? Can you talk about what they looked like?
8:26
Yeah.
8:27
They're...
8:27
I think that you could always tell that they were created by adults who were talking down to kids, always.
8:34
Every single program felt like adults are talking down to kids and saying, "Don't do this." And it's like, okay, well, they're going to.
8:41
You're not actually meeting the need.
8:43
And being so frustrated with that.

34 MINS LATER

42:32
What did you say?
93:29
Where do you think you would be without this, and do you think there's some validity to what I'm saying?
93:34
I would, I wouldn't be, um, in, anywhere w- near where I am in terms of personal and professional growth without Crippling, and the reason why is Crippling Hot Sauce was the, the first time that I had a dream that wasn't influenced or associated with something my parents have taught me.
94:00
So it's like, you, you get taught, you know, go to college.
94:03
Get that good degree.
94:04
Get that good job.
94:06
But, like, this was something that was completely my own doing, my own mindset.
94:11
It was formed by my own beliefs, and I think that's important as, you know, um, uh...
95:32
Mm-hmm.
BenHOST
5:46
Okay, yeah, we are clean.
5:47
[laughs] So, um, or, or, or it's...
5:50
But I've actually...
5:51
That was my first thought.
5:52
My second thought, I figured it out.
5:53
Um-A sagittal split is when some part of your face, like for example, your chin or something, starts sagging.
SteveGUEST
10:27
It's right under the one that says a million dollars if you put all that.
10:30
[laughs] That is quite a word.
BenHOST
1:56
And LA doctor
1:57
... because, well, 'cause you just- you s- from what I've heard about LA people, from what I've seen on, like, influencers and TikTok and like, they are not shy about how they use their, like, makeup and lipstick and stuff.
2:07
Like, I could see someone like, "This is a good idea."
SteveGUEST
4:06
Yeah.
4:06
Is it strange to me, though, that it's less weird to me that he used a Swiss Army knife for a surgery knife than it would be if he were to use a surgery knife to, like, make lunch?
3:24
Yeah.
3:24
Um, not a lot of people had their videos on.
3:26
I see him, I'm like, "Okay, you know, I wanna, I wanna be in psychology.
3:29
I wanna be on that realm of things." We got a therapist in here talking some mental health stuff.
3:34
Cool dude, used to play, talked about heavy, heavy stuff, suicide stuff to get going.
3:40
You're like ...
3:42
And so, um, I just, I think I shot him a message.

HomeSense, the home of no compromise, part of the HomeGoods family.
19:16
(laughs)
19:17
... present that, and I get the grade back.
19:20
It's 82%.
19:21
And as a person with cerebral palsy, my brain is the only thing that works 100% well on my body, so I kinda got mad.
19:30
I was like, I...
19:31
So I went up to the teacher and asked him why.
19:34
I'm like, "I've never gotten a grade this low.
20:51
What makes this a perfect gift for someone for the holidays?
