I remember when I first got drafted, a reporter asked Coach Rob, what would it take for Doug Williams to play in the National Football League? And Coach Robinson gave him a one-word answer.

He'd say, opportunities.

And that was the bottom line.

And so to have the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl, I understood what it was all about, especially for Black America and the opportunity that guys before me didn't have.

And that probably could have played way before I did if they had been given the opportunity.

And I thought about the guys that was coming after me.

You know, it stands in, it symbolizes so much misunderstanding, so many doubts, so many biases, frankly, right? And how do you remember it?

Well, Doug could probably speak better to that, because he went right to the pros out of college, where I went to the CFL, so I was more coveted there, and they wanted me there, where in the NFL they didn't, so I didn't have that chance to feel that feeling.

Right, and Warren said, and even to Warren, he had to go to Canada.

Number one, so evidently they were thinking this before he had to go to Calgary.

Ain't no way in the world he should not have been in the NFL.

And I was drafted in first round, 17th pick, and I was fortunate to have Shaq to talk to all the time, Coach Robinson, my family, and had something to lean on.

But at the same time, I knew, that I had to play.

I can remember telling Coach Rob on draft day, I said, Coach, if I don't go in, because I always wanted to be a high school coach, number one, let me say that.

See what we got.

Jesus.

Oh, man.
