Help us out before we go to break on that, Doug.
10:38
Yeah.
10:39
I, I'll take those in reverse order.
10:40
Number one, Mike Johnson will no longer be Speaker of the House, um, at some point between now and January 3rd.
10:46
The 119th Congress will evaporate as a matter of constitutional law.
10:51
So if he gets reelected, he will just be Mr. Johnson, and he will have no role in the process.
10:58
Before then, the president's gonna stomp his feet.
14:26
So what is it that you're bringing to the table that's unique and different for the voters in that district that say, "I'm the guy"?
32:39
Help us out before we go to break on that, Doug.
32:41
Yeah, I'll, I'll take those in reverse order.
32:43
Number one, Mike Johnson will no longer be Speaker of the House, um, at some point between now and January 3rd.
32:50
The 119th Congress will evaporate as a matter of constitutional law.
32:54
So if he gets reelected, he will just be Mr. Johnson, and he will have no role in the process.
33:01
Before then, the president's gonna stomp his feet, his allies are gonna make noise.
33:06
The system will work.
36:37
So what is it that you're bringing to the table that's unique and different for the voters in that district that say, "I'm the guy"?
11:30
If people ask you, "Who is Doug Chapin?" what do they, what do you tell them?
11:34
I tell them that I'm an election geek.
11:36
Um, I spent about four decades, um, working in and around democracy and elections and policy and the law.
11:43
Um, undergrad from Princeton, master's in public administration from the Kennedy School at Harvard, a law degree, uh, from Georgetown.
11:51
Um, worked for three years on Capitol Hill with the Senate Rules Committee advising Democrats on election matters.
11:57
Um, spent another decade at The Pew Charitable Trusts leading their election team, doing everything from expanding military and overseas voting, promoting online voter registration, putting voting information on people's phones with Google.
12:10
Um, from there, University of Minnesota.
14:30
Fight back."
29:55
His own reelection doesn't seem to be a big concern of his.
29:57
Yeah, no offense taken.
29:59
I actually saw a really interesting thing the other day that said safe incumbents don't fear losing.
30:04
They fear having to compete.
30:06
Emmer has really, since he was first elected in 2014, been able to pretty much coast on the party line for six elections.
30:15
We are bringing the fight this time.
30:17
And they either don't know what's coming or they're hoping nobody will notice.
31:47
Why do you, Doug Chapin, think that you can get anywhere closer than all the people who have kind of come in with the similar, I'm taking on the top dog candidate in Minnesota mentality?
