So how do you figure out what, uh, what a pediatric neurologist needs today?

Well, the way that I started trying to figure that out myself with an open mind was doing surveys.

So Ignacio Valencia and I did a survey of program directors over 10 years ago.

A group of people at JCN, Mark Patterson, several residents and I did a survey that was published in 2012-ish of people that had practiced, been board certified for the first time from 2001 to 2010.

And then Peter Kang and I were involved in a project through the American Board of Pediatrics that was a workforce survey that also asked people what they thought would be the most useful.

So those three surveys that were published now about 10 years ago, I think formed a decent foundation for thinking about how to do it.

Who really moved this forward was Rachel Gottlieb-Smith and Danny Rogers through their leadership and the residency program directors.
