Valerie FentressHOST
What has been kind of one of the things that God has spoken to you the most in the making of this book?
D
6:18Dominique OkonkwoGUEST
book?Yeah, I think, um, I just, you know, I think kids are very inquisitive, and they have lots of questions.
D

And so when you get stuff like, "Why is the sky blue?" Or, you know, "Where did this rainbow come from?" You know, "Why did cr- you know, God create seaweed?" The kids complain about that all the time, not knowing that it serves such a, so many purposes, and the book covers that, for the fish and for the ocean by cleaning up some of the toxins that sometimes can be found in the water, oil, chemicals, et cetera.

And so, you know, when I write, I do definitely wanna answer some of those questions, and I think it's a good tool for parents and educators and caregivers as well because...

And it's funny 'cause I've had some school visits with the book, and the teachers will come up to me and say, "I learned something today," [laughs] you know? And I was like, "I didn't know sand dollars." Like I have, uh, there's sand dollars are in the book.
D
7:17Dominique OkonkwoGUEST
What's a sand dollar, you know? And, and I have a video that shows you the actual creature and how it eats the sand and, and then it talks about how the sand, the actual sand dollar is like the skeleton of that creature.

And so, you know, I'm passing stuff around to the, to the kids, and they're looking at the sand dollar, and one kid said, "This looks like a cookie." I'm like, "Don't eat that." [laughs]

Was there any of the wonders that you were wanting to put in the book that didn't make it?
