It happened in relationship.

Well, one of the things that happened to me in 1964, I attended a, um, tent meeting in a small town called Delo, Mississippi.

And that night I recognized that I was a sinner needing a savior, and the only thing I had to do was to go forward and to give Christ my, my life.

Uh, John Perkins came to me afterwards and said, "Dolphus, we have a, a meeting on Thursday night and on Saturday night.

Uh, we want you to s- you know, to come to those meetings." And it, it was interestingly good because he says, "We have a, a pickup truck that'll come get you," and all those kind of things.

They, so that the truck came and got us, and sitting in the back of the truck and, and we'd come to Mendenhall and, and have a Bible study time.

That was the beginning part of all of that.

It took shape in the place they lived, places where people could grow, learn, and experience dignity.
