um so we've known each other for a good couple of years now and i think um the listeners kind of want to hear a little bit about your story so kind of who put a penny in you to start to become miss dixie swallows how did it happen how the hell have you ended up here

and i've always been a bit of a performer at heart i've always been a bit somebody who's been sort of i've enjoyed entertaining even like going back when i was a child i remember my mum sorry santa claus buying me a karaoke machine and i used to do concerts on the dining room table and my mom wasn't happy about that because she just got a new dining room table And then growing up as a child, I remember my mum used to have these really stiletto leather thigh-high boots and I used to love listening to the noise it made walking down the garden path.

So the signs were there from an early age, you could say.

And then, I don't know, when I ventured into Newcastle, when I first came out and I started partying in the Newcastle gay scene and stuff, I just remember being in awe and not really ever seeing a drag queen in real life before, only ever seeing sort of Lily Savage or Dame Edna on the TV, never really understanding what they were, just it was a man in a dress, but I didn't understand why or think about why.

And then when I went to Newcastle for the first time and I started going out, I just remember being stood in the bank bar.

That was one of the first bars I went into.

And the DJ, drag queen, literally had just arrived in a big fur coat.
