And you're right.

I mean, you can't just swap an alternate in when you want a different result, but you can swap an alternate in if someone is not following the instructions.

And so I give the defense lawyer a lot of credit, basically framing the argument as that this juror is not following the court's instructions because number one jurors are presumed to do so and number two they're supposed to and so he really framed the issue as you know this reasonable doubt but that he's not following the instructions but no you can't just swap it i mean that that's a slippery slope there to just swap a juror in when somebody doesn't like kind of the way they're you know what it sounds like the way they're voting

I mean, you wonder how much of this verdict is just trying to solve what is one of the enduring mysteries of our time right i mean it's like almost a meme now who killed tupac so you wonder if some of the motivation was to hold someone accountable right even someone who didn't pull the trigger um dina you know listen memories fade this is a 30 year old crime i'm sure you would uh i mean What are some of the challenges that you would use to exploit in cases like this? Obviously, the biggest one is like, who remembers what happened 30 years ago, right? A lot of the evidence is gone or unreliable.

Well, so much of the evidence came down to what this guy, the defendant said in this book and what he said over the years.
