Tell us a little bit more about the approach that you've worked to develop that you are finding is making such a powerful difference for the people that you work with.

Diante FuchsGUEST
I think when I first started this journey around anxiety, having experienced the anxiety myself in a very different way to what my husband landed up experiencing it a few years later, because he had a really big run in with health anxiety.

Diante FuchsGUEST
So he was ball of anxiety all of the time whereas I guess I was always high functioning anxious and then in my 20s it kind of came to a head and I went for my own therapy and I did a bit of CBT I understood what my core beliefs were and what those were being triggered at the time so my anxiety came down pretty quickly I didn't get stuck Whereas with my husband, he had this run in at work, he landed up with this health anxiety and then it just stayed stuck for two solid years, even though I'd sent him to the same therapist I'd been to and we'd done all these strategies.

Diante FuchsGUEST
And so as a therapist, of course, I was always interested in figuring out why do some people stay stuck and why are some people kind of cycling out of their anxiety a bit quicker? And that's when I started to sort of differentiate between I would call ordinary anxiety and stuck anxiety.

Diante FuchsGUEST
I really like to move away from this concept of anxiety disorders because they leave you feeling like there's something wrong with you, like you're defective, right, or ill. Yeah.

What would you say to the listener who's kind of like relating to that challenge?

So that's where I first started the work, and I then created a program to help people kind of free themselves of this stuck cycle where they can start to allow the experience of anxiety, sit with it, and just change their response and their relationship to the anxiety.

Diante FuchsGUEST
We would do a lot of work, they'd do really well, and then, you know, after a few months or maybe a year or so, some of them would contact me and say, "But it's come back.

Diante FuchsGUEST
What's happening? And I'm not afraid of being anxious, but yet it's here." So then I started to realize, hang on, there's more to this picture than the stuck cycle of anxiety about anxiety.

Diante FuchsGUEST
So you know, thinking about that headache example that I had, and then realizing that what had helped me cycle out of my anxiety was knowing what it was that it was asking me to pay attention to.

And this is what I tell all of my clients when we're working just in the realm of anxiety.

Diante FuchsGUEST
But I think, again, it's true for all human beings, no matter what the challenges that we're facing, is essentially that the quality of the questions that you ask yourself is directly proportionate to the quality of your life.

Diante FuchsGUEST
So what that really means is that your subconscious is driven to answer any question that you give it, always.

Diante FuchsGUEST
So, you know, if you've lost your keys and then you're like, where are my keys? If you can't answer that question, your subconscious will keep going to that place to try and figure out where are your keys.
