What was the single decision that most shaped the leader you became today?
3:54
Look, I think there's lots of small stepping stones and sort of decision points that you make along the way and whether or not they were sort of highly strategic or not, I guess is debatable, but it's sort of taking the most of each of those opportunities.

And like I mentioned before, like being able to travel around, you know, firstly your country, but then internationally definitely opened up doors to things because of the experience that you have.

I think probably the most pivotal thing that happened in my career was, and it's kind of like an awkward story to tell, but You know, we've all seen the movie Jerry Maguire, and he writes the memo that's to say that the system's broken and that athletes need more attention kind of thing.

And it kind of felt like I'd done a similar thing where I wrote this paper to the executives saying that, you know, there's this thing on the horizon called Engineering 2.0. And it was really where this, I guess, the... enormous scaling of how you use computing technology to deliver engineering in a way that we weren't historically doing.
5:11
Because if you looked at traditional engineering at that point in time, it was really just a digitised way that we were doing arcs, lines and circles like we were on a drawing board.

It wasn't particularly innovative, even though we may have automated parts of that.
