So when you have a baby who comes in with faltering weight, how do you recommend these families increase calories without going straight to formula and being able to still use breast milk?
22:44
That's a great question, you know, because I know a lot of parents kind of get fearful, you know, if breastfeeding has been, you know, what they think is going well, and then they find out their baby's not growing really well.

Formula for some of these families can be, you know, kind of a stress or a scary thing to think about having to resort to.

You know, there's not going to be a specific food or supplement that mom can take in to make her breast milk more calorie or nutrient dense.

I like to talk to moms first about seeing if they can fit in, say, an extra breastfeeding session or maybe even pump.

one to two extra times a day that she can bottle feed her baby with.

Sometimes it can be just a matter of fitting in one to two extra breastfeeding sessions or pumping to help increase mom's supply.
