Sometimes they don't get anything out of it.
3:35
Well, I'd say it's about the drivers.
3:38
What's in it for the universities? I'd say there's kind of three big things they're looking for.
3:41
The first is all universities are passionate about this idea that the research they do should change the world somehow.
3:47
And the reality is to do that, you often have to do that in partnership with a company or by creating a company because it's about finding ways to scale that research and bring it out.
3:56
So the first thing is impact.
3:57
And all universities are driven by that.
7:40
What typically is the expectation from the university's perspective? If you've got 50 startups, how many of them would you see making it all the way?
18:30
But in being a crusader, Dermot, he had to break rules along the way and also rules that got him in trouble with the law.
18:37
Well, he did go to jail twice for his convictions.
18:42
And there have been other crusaders in Australia.
18:46
But Darren had the loudest voice, particularly when he was at 3OW and then on air in his current affairs show for that six years.
18:56
So, you know, he did it his way.
18:59
I don't know what to say about the man.
19:02
I admired him enormously.
21:01
Demba, when you look back at media personalities over the years, and, I mean, there have been many across both radio and television, where does someone like Darren Hinch stand?
53:05
So will you please welcome Dr. Dermot O'Brien.
53:09
Evening, everyone.
53:09
Thanks so much, Patrick.
53:11
And thanks for the kind words.
53:12
Thanks, Linda, as well, for hosting us here in Trinity.
53:15
And congratulations, Maria, on the award.
53:19
You're going to have a busy 24 hours in Dublin and an even busier, I guess, 48 hours across the island of Ireland.
