So just on that and without belaboring the point, what – What needs to change for that dependency to decrease? I know you'll say systems and yeah, but is that more of a mindset thing or an internal shift that people in leaders in construction need to make?
35:32
Yeah, there's a number of factors, which is one of the reasons it's so challenging.
35:36
But yes, typically because you've gone through that growth stage at the beginning of your business and you've been grinding, it becomes habitual.
35:45
And I still struggle with this where if I'm not working, I feel like I'm not accomplishing something or I'm not, you know.
35:53
Moving myself forward.
35:54
I, I love taking those things off my to do's or getting that new thing in place or, you know, finishing something.
36:01
So, and then you just move on to the next thing.

So based on, again, your experience and you're in that space, that difficult time at the moment, what makes the decision difficult or the decisions through that difficult? And how are you thinking through which path to take to keep that work-life balance?
7:00
deal with accounting and i have to deal with marketing and i have to deal with sales and all these other things that are outside of what i enjoy which is the creation of the product which of those things tend to be the ones that get in their way first is there one that's more than the other or is it kind of just all over the place
7:18
Yeah.
7:19
Thanks for making that distinction, Greg, not ragging on, you know, contractors or anything like that.
7:24
The industry is extremely challenging and very difficult.
7:28
The reason I was kind of going on with that is just like, as an owner, it doesn't matter what business you're in, you need to take ownership for your boat, if you will, and get everybody working in the same direction.
7:37
Now, yes, typically I was the same way.
7:41
You're good at what you do.
11:32
How do you start teaching an owner who's ready to grow? What do they do first from a marketing and a sales standpoint with those types of systems? So just
GarrettHOST
32:28
mentioned it there with the takeoffs what are some other ways you're seeing ai implemented at the gc level you know maybe talk to what's working and anything that comes to mind in terms of what's not working
32:40
yeah one thing i think we've all seen is uh is marketing you know like all the uh ai generated marketing out there and it's getting very generic it's getting like overdone.
32:52
And I think if anybody sees an M dash or a it's not this, it's that, you know, phrasing it's like next.
32:59
So, so just realizing that everyone's inundated with, with AI slop, if you will, for marketing, even though the, the intent behind it can be solid, but it's just, it's not going to land properly if it's just very generated and all the more reason to have that ideal client profile, because then you can utilize that with AI so that it is still speaking very much to your audience.
33:21
and you've got some guardrails or guidelines of things for the AI not to do or prompts in order to make it sound more human or land better with your audience.
33:34
So marketing definitely saved a lot of time though, because I hate writing, don't like copywriting.
33:39
So for AI to do writing, any kind of review is great, summarizing.

And then where can people find you and who do you want reaching out? Obviously, the general contractors of the world is kind of your main demographic, but just wrap them up with some closing thoughts and where can they find you?
11:36
So how do you get them past this resistance and show them that a system can mean freedom? Because, you know, I think those boundaries to work with them.
11:46
Yeah, I think intuitively, the owners understand it.
11:51
But yes, there is this bit of a holdback, I guess, as far as moving forward, because it's going to corporize, you know, corporate corporize the, the business, if that's the word, but make it more formal.
12:02
And like, especially if it's been them, and maybe they've got a few employees, and it's very loose and Everyone gets their job done and making a bit of money, but there's no room for growth.
12:14
And the long-term goals aren't going to be hit if there's no structures put in place.
12:18
So I think that a lot of them have a problem, I guess, seeing the big picture.
12:23
They know systems need to go into place.

10 MINS LATER

22:22
So beyond the P&L, why does a business that's easier to manage actually buy someone in their personal life? Because you talk about family and freedom a lot in your messaging, but what does that mean specifically for you and maybe for your clients?
