How can you prevent damp and condensation? And what can you do if mould has already appeared?
1:16
So mould, we'll start with that.
1:17
Mould, there's two main different types.
1:19
If you have mould coming in because there's weather coming in from outside, say in an older building, this will typically happen.
1:25
you have a bit of an issue and then it's time, as soon as you spot that, that's kind of called a professional because that can be kind of dangerous.
1:30
But a different type of mould that happens is from poor ventilation.
1:33
So you'll find it behind an old bed that you haven't moved away from the wall or in behind your wardrobes or them sort of areas where there's lack of airflow getting to it.
2:53
What are some cheap and easy ways to draft-proof your home? We have this problem in our house, right? Our front door, from day one, it was never installed properly and it just creeps in around the door.

A tremendous win.
0:10
Ah, yeah.
0:11
Unreal.
0:12
So, great character there.
0:13
Especially in the second half, we're up against them.
0:16
We've done with that careful swing there.
0:18
Look.

And they call through the year, the lads have shown great character, like the game in Densforth was a difficult one, came out with a one-point win, Piltown took it to extra time, today went right to the wire, but they saw it out on each occasion.
8:33
Yeah.
8:33
I ha- I was lucky enough when I came home, I was making hurdles for a year, and then I came home out of Wexford, so I did, and I was, I was humming and hawing.
8:43
I had an awful fear of working for someone else.
8:45
I'm not the best man though to take instruction, so [laughs] I, I had a, a conversation with my uncle here one day.
8:51
So my father's an auctioneer in Portlaoise, and my uncle is an auctioneer in Kilkenny.
8:55
And we were just chatting here one day, and he said he cannot get anyone just to cut grass and maintain the place in Kilkenny, down in Thomastown.
9:03
And he was like, he's so stuck.

21:53
And what about the beginners course then, Declan? What would you, kind of, show on that, because if they're brand new to it?
7:01
Is that an easy fix?
7:03
Your laminate flooring, yes.
7:04
So basically you have to think of your laminate flooring as it clicks together.
7:07
So basically when we're laying it, after you get the first row down, it's quite simple and it is not that rocket science to do it.
7:13
But they are still made out of timber.
7:15
So you think, how do I get it back together? One, you need a little rubber mallet to give it a tap.
7:19
If you hit it with a regular hammer, you're going to obviously scratch it and make bits of it.
8:43
You run classes around the country that students can go to and maybe make friends at.
26:41
Declan, with the kind of stuff that you do, people working with their hands and building and crafting stuff for their own houses, like again, what does get stuck in mean to you?
26:52
I suppose get stuck in.
26:54
Well, it's gotten us this far, to be fair.
26:57
I, in case you don't know, I am not, I never qualified at anything as such in Ireland.
27:02
And my kind of whole thing has been doing it is if you work hard enough, if you have a hard enough neck and if you're willing to put yourself out there.
27:10
the opportunities that are out there are absolutely outstanding and if you kind of have a look instead of traditional thing of giving out about being here or being worried about staying here or people not happy with being here but if you really read between the lines and look outside the box a little bit as well there is a lot of things that can be done here and there's a lot of positives to staying here and I get kind of tick and kind of annoyed looking at all my friends leaving and then hearing about them saying how great it is in Australia and how great it is here And I'm kind of standing here looking around going, well, there's plenty of stuff you can do to build something for

rocking rocking the snickers huh rocking the snickers but come here between the and here's one quick one i was thinking with the two of your own particular skill sets is there any hint in the title of this podcast about maybe getting stuck into you know doing something for yourself taking over a small place doing it up for yourself or going into a place that's maybe not as nice as you'd like it and doing it up for yourself
37:58
Well, for myself, anyway, again, I'm a small few years ahead of Caitlin.
5:06

18:43
Well, for myself, anyway, again, I'm a small few years ahead of Caitlin.
18:47
I'm kind of trying to save to buy a house.
18:50
And the thoughts of even trying to buy a house that you would have to spend over, maybe, I don't know, say, for example, €200,000 and pay it back for 35 years is depressing.
18:59
So I will hopefully be able to get a house and maybe looking to go through the SEAI grant, you'll have to do some of it.
19:05
Or else the, what's it called, the other grant that you can get for a derelict house grant as well.
5:58
but for outdoor stuff, like what, what do you need? Where do you start?
6:01
Yeah, not a massive difference.
6:02
So like kind of break it into two, I'll say.
6:04
So we have our power tools.
6:06
So people are awfully intimidated with power tools, and that's fine.
6:09
But your kinda main three that are, we always say to start off with is a drill for starter, and your drill sets.
6:15
A random orbital sander, so that is basically just a pad sander that'll spin round and round in circles, and you hold it in your hand and you move around, it makes sanding a whole lot easier.
6:59
Are there particular ones you should ask for?
