programs jumped to mind? Which seeds specifically?
3:52
What are you most proudest of? What accomplishments? I have to say it's the Baby Step Savings Plan.
3:59
It was something I ran on in 2014.
4:02
I said we would not use taxpayer dollars, so I had to figure out a way to create a 501 under the Office of Economic Empowerment, which we now have, in order to create public-private partnerships.
4:17
And then, like I always do, we did a pilot, because pilots really inform you as to what is effective.
4:25
And we made a determination that the best way to seed these accounts for kids was to begin at birth.
4:32
It gave them the most time to be impacted by our program.

16 MINS LATER

20:40
Maybe speak a little bit to the revenue generation that comes from this online wing of the lottery.
9:28
And what kind of success has it had so far?
9:30
Well, I'm a person who doesn't count their chickens before they're hatched.
9:38
But we have already been the number one lottery in kicking it off and creating more revenue than any other lottery has before.
9:52
which is pretty amazing.
9:55
I'm trying to think exactly because I also heard more recent numbers, but we don't have a full month yet.
10:01
But over $110 million has been wagered, surpassing $100 million in 26 days.
10:09
And as I said, faster than any other state that has launched iLottery.
10:49
Well, is this just moving revenue around from different sources at this point or is there a bigger bottom line here?
7:44
Why was this so important to you?
7:46
Well, I'll tell you, Kim, it really struck me.
7:51
I happened to have been at a Red Sox game at Fenway Park, and I saw this thing flashing that said Daily Fantasy Sports.
8:00
And I said, gee, what is that? And then all of a sudden, I started seeing it everywhere, and I went...
8:08
oh no, this is going to hurt the lottery.
8:11
And having been a local elected official and understanding how critical lottery dollars were and continue to be to all the local communities in the state, I said we need to be watching this very carefully and what else is going on in the country very carefully because our lottery is not for profit.
8:36
It is to benefit people who live throughout Massachusetts.
11:24
Well, is this just moving revenue around from different sources at this point, or is there a bigger bottom line here?
