let's go and win it so and I thought that was a unique kind of insight possibly a unique insight kind of into the mindset that you guys have as a team like can you touch on that a little bit and also maybe how that fed into kind of the context of maybe conversations you guys were having you know on like Saturday afternoon evening of the Open this year yeah that's a tough

one I mean winning is so hard you know there's so many really good golfers out here like and and all over the world and winning is the hardest thing to do like there's been great golfers that have got a whole career successfully without winning um yeah it's really tough Foxy he's he wins like we've won eight times together like he he gets the job done and he's he's better he's better right up front in the mix you know things slow down, clarity comes, you know, he's better right up at the top pushing for a win than, you know, sniffing around the cut line, you know, on a Friday afternoon.

It's weird.

But, yeah, it's hard.

Like, He's an ultimate competitor.

He's super impressive, but there's a lot of time and effort that goes in behind the scenes that people wouldn't know about how we talk about these things and how I have meetings with his coach, with his agents.

He has meetings with his coach, his mental coach, his agent.

and Foxy got like hit a great shot and just got like a really tough bounce just talk me through kind of your guys conversations walking up you know walking up towards the green and like the mindset around that because it was an amazing kind of hole to watch

So where will his stock be, do you think, amongst the American public?

I think everybody will still look at it and the way they started the tournament, they flew out the traps really quickly, played really well in that first game and took out Paraguay, I think, really easily.

Went on to beat Germany, of course.

They changed the team a lot for the last game and maybe lost a little bit of momentum in that game.

But I think it'll still be seen.

with a lot of positivity.

They're disappointed at the moment, obviously, because they haven't gone as far as they would.

Are you expecting more kids, more season tickets, more interest in the MLS because the, the, People might not know that the season's shifting, isn't it?

Did the facilities surprise you when you went out there then?

Yeah, they did a little bit.

Um, I wasn't sure what to see in terms of MLS facilities.

I'd, I'd been over to Minnesota with Aston Villa before and trained at their training facilities before, but Charlotte's were a step up from that.

A lot of the, the college, university, um, facilities are unbelievable, um, wherever you go.

College, college life is massive in the States.

And, um, you know, so my son was at NC State, and I saw the facilities that they had.

How, um, you mentioned John McGinn, how, how proud are you of where he is at?

Yeah, good point.

But it's, uh, I think...

I mean, uh, I can j- only talk really of Charlotte FC.

We've got a real diverse, uh, fan base.

Um, big Hispanic, big Latino fan base as well, and fan, fan groups.

Their, their sport is football, you know, so they want to come and watch the games and make it, you know, an unbelievable atmosphere.

Um, you know, there are, I think now, a growing amount of Americans who are, uh, are starting to get really interested in football stroke soccer.

Do the Americans, when they come over to, to, to the UK or to the Premier League in particular, expect to make money?

I think I brought off one of the wide players, put Mille on at center-har- center half straight away, and went 4-4-1.

So tell me what he was like to, to manage.

What have you learned from that first season that has just changed maybe a couple of things that you've done into this?

Um, I think you're learning all the time.

I wanted to come and challenge myself.

Um, I'd not been abroad and coached abroad before.

I'd only ever coached in England.

Um, and it was a great opportunity to come out here, a big club, um, an expansion team.

It's only the fourth season.

How do you feel about that?
