I think
De KaiGUEST
6:24
as with many challenges, We, humanity, now has all the tech and talent and resources that are needed to solve all of our existential crises.
De KaiGUEST
6:34
What we lack is the social will, and that is the hardest nut to crack.
De KaiGUEST
6:37
It is not technological.
De KaiGUEST
6:38
It is the social will.
De KaiGUEST
6:39
How do we crack that nut? I think that's the question.
De KaiGUEST
6:43
AI is the best thing humanity has ever invented that could help us to see across whatever our blind spots are, that could help us to understand other perspectives instead of just the perspectives in our own little bubbles and, you know, echo chambers.

Did you like some of what the EU put in its law? Is there some of that that we should do here in the United States? There's probably a lot that

How does
De KaiGUEST

that feel? And I mean, you know, for me, ever since I was a child, this was like the potential for another conflict was something that I was really worried about.
De KaiGUEST
6:26
And of course it has to do with family background, right? Both of my parents were born in the French concession in Shanghai, but by the time they were about 10, their families had to flee.

De KaiGUEST

And so my father is a theoretical physicist.
De KaiGUEST
6:44
i grew up i don't remember not being surrounded by theoretical physicists you know he was a professor at northwestern university for a lot of that yeah and i grew up going to argon national labs to to fermilab uh and you know if you've seen the movie abenheimer it's like fermi is a big part of this story right i'm surrounded by these physicists so it's kind of natural that i was thinking about this in fact my little sisters were always kind of like, why is Dakai so serious about this problem? Because they'd get, I don't know, they'd probably be eight years old or something, nine years old.
De KaiGUEST
7:17
And on their birthdays, they'd be getting a present from me, which was a book about the danger of nuclear annihilation and mutual assured destruction.
