I remember two words that I learned one of them was rape

the idea of rape at an era when the idea of rape in an era when the it was a four-letter word that was unmentionable you can see attacked at film party they the newspapers would not print the word rape they would use euphemisms like outraged attacked ravished and And so again, there's this sense of shame that what happened to you is so shameful that the word can't be spoken.

So films would go a certain distance with it, but then they'd step back.

The woman would pass out.

The man would pass out.

The woman would find a way at the very last moment to have the man fall down unconscious.

And this idea that rape was something that you couldn't even deal with and was even a subject of humor in a cartoon where this man, his lit candles suddenly sink over, thanks to Betty Boop, but he's going to grab her and take her into his bedroom where even the bed is so disturbed by what's happening that it runs away.

She says, that's just bizarre.
