What's the overlap between video games and escape rooms at this point in time?

I mean, they're different things fundamentally, but I do love the comparison.

I gave a talk years ago where I used the first few seconds of Super Mario Brothers from the Nintendo Entertainment System to explain this very idea of the game starts.

You move left, you can't move.

You move right, there's an enemy.

If you walk into them, you die.

If you jump over them, fine.

And in that magic, that's what I would really love your insight is why is that fun? Why is an escape room fun? Why doesn't it just feel like terrifying labor under a clock that you've paid for the privilege of?

What's your favorite escape room where you had a really good time? My favorite game right now is not shocking to escape room fans.

It's a game called Magnifico Circus.

It is at a company called Escape Arium in Laval, Quebec, Canada, just outside of Montreal.

And it is currently the top ranked game in the world.

It is two and a half hours.
