I want to study this formally.

So I went into, like, did a master's in music technology, which was, like, kind of balanced between electroacoustic composition and all the rest of, like, learning things like Maxim SP and kind of obviously programming kind of the things like C sound and things like that, which was awesome.

And then at the end of it, I was basically so into kind of the DSP kind of synthesis side of things I ended up doing my master's thesis on synthesizing a sitar string actually I have a sitar behind me and you can't really see it but basically just fell in love with the sound of a sitar and figured out a way to synthesize it using physics and I was absolutely it was just like my parents couldn't get me out of university when I was doing it like it was 12 hour days I just found my this is me kind of thing Then I moved to London for just kind of broader opportunities and much better music city, music life, all that kind of thing.

And working here is going to decide that I want to go back to finish kind of where I started in terms of kind of academic side of things.

I decided to pursue a PhD at the Centre for Digital Music in Queen Mary University, London, where I was doing it on intelligent audio production shows.

I actually ended up, my, my PhD supervisor was the original, one of the original founders of Langer, which I'm sure everyone knows is the first AI mastering service.

And it's growing into other larger things now.

Well, actually, it's inter- So during my PhD a few years ago, I did some research where we had, um, we had 20 list- we had 20 people, basically.

10 had critical listening skills and 10 didn't, and we found that only people with critical listening skills really paid a- Sorry, sorry, to explain as well.

We made them listen to really good mixes of the same song and really bad mixes of the same song, and to measure their emotional response, basically, they would report if they, how they felt about it.

We looked at their facial expression, think their, like, their skin response, loads of stuff, basically.

And we found that basically only the, the difference between a good mix and a bad mix mattered to those with critical listening skills.

So, like, that's the real kinda technical stuff, like the corrective mixing, the making sure it's loud enough, make sure there's no distortion, the panning, that kind of stuff.
