yeah certainly does and definitely go support daily face up vancouver it's carison price donnie and dolly like that's all out there and i i just get in the habit now whenever i go out if i got a long drive i gotta take my kid to excellent ice he's got camp i just make sure i download your podcast or whoever else's and i got it on in the car and then it's all good so anyways uh but for people tuning into the canucks i know we haven't talked much about that um how are you sort of like what's been sort of your your overall takeaway of the offseason I think a lot of people are happy that they were able to at least move out you know the Marcus Pedersen contract they do this kind of strategy that you guys have talked about a lot where you sign sort of a veteran player for a shorter term and you still get that locker room leadership and you still fill those positions and you're still keeping the team intact like just your overall thoughts I know it's gonna be a very general question but just your overall thoughts on what the Canucks have done this offseason have you been pretty satisfied

Yeah, they came into the offseason with a plan.

They said, we need to rebuild the locker room.

We need to rebuild the culture.

They talked about better relationships with the media.

You know who very, very rarely bailed on his media obligations when he was here? Luke Shen.

yeah i totally agree and i kind of get the sense from ryan johnson it's the first time we've heard this from management where they seem like they're actually listening to the audience to the fans about doing this rebuild properly they've mentioned patients a lot so i tend to believe they are going to go in that direction but here's the question i have too there still are some free agents available there's also some goalies available too and i do wonder if demko's not ready to start the season do they go with a veteran goaltender because i don't know if there's one injury to tola pilo or to kevin lincoln and do you want to go with ty young being brought up or you know have another michael dipietro situation something like that you don't want that to happen um so like but then obviously there's the side of well you want to get the young players to play as well so where do you stand on that should they maybe look at the ufa market if you get a pto someone cheap like a munkle bunting or someone along those lines um or do they just stay with the roster they have and then kind of you know give the young guys a shot like where do you stand on that

Well, that's my point is like everybody's heard those stories, right? Um, You know, the Jason Spezza story.

And Spezza's like salt of the earth guy.

He never really talked about it.

But like Jason Spezza, first game after signing with his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs.

As somebody who has gone into those scrums and you've asked questions and you've been in those rooms before for varying situations, how did you think the Edmonton media handled the questions they asked?

I have talked to people who have, and I've talked to Ian Clark and asked, "Hey, what did you look for when you were scouting Sergei Bobrovsky?" Right? And it's the same thing that he's looking for now with Canucks goaltenders.

And, and so I'll just speak on that.

I'll just speak on that because that's now what I look for.

What the experts have taught me, that's now what I look for.

So what am I looking for? What are they looking for? They're looking at the intangibles, right? And not everybody agrees with this, but you're looking for the intangibles.

Where does RJ start to get the Canucks back to where they need to be?

be?Well, when you asked him that question yesterday, he gave a great answer.

It was, "I'm gonna call everybody basically [laughs] and say, 'Are you ready for this? Like, are you ready to come in in September?'" And he, he, he wasn't just talking about one player.

I know Elias Pettersson's getting a ton of attention obviously with this quote, but he wasn't talking about one player, wasn't talking about just the players.

He was talking about himself, he was talking about his staff, he was talking about everybody.

He's gonna call everybody and he's gonna talk to them and say, like, "Everybody needs to come in and be the best that they can be in September.

Are you ready for that?" And yes, a big focus is on Elias Pettersson, whose preparation has been questioned a ton in the past, but that's priority number one is get everybody pulling on the same rope again.
