How is he feeling? Any progress on his health?
0:23
Yeah, I'm sorry that he's not here.
0:25
It's been a rough couple of weeks.
0:28
He was rushed to the hospital, to the emergency room with a bunch of infections that culminated in him having major problems breathing, major discomfort.
0:38
Obviously, as his son, who has seen him pretty much every day, it's been immensely difficult.
0:43
to have to observe that.
0:46
What's also equally, if not more distressing, if it's possible, is that every time he comes into the hospital and is rushed, thankfully it hasn't been that often lately, a doctor looks at us with a very grim face saying, you know, prepare to say goodbye essentially and every time he I don't think they realize who they're dealing with because every time that he's there he completely beats the odds and the same thing thankfully has happened here he's back to really good spirits smiling watching you know now that hockey is over he's watching the World Cup getting engaged there so he's now all he's now back I don't say back to but He's getting much closer to where all of you have seen him on these recordings with you, Marissa.

And as you've been talking, I know, yesterday to your dad about upcoming Father's Day, any interesting wisdom that you can share with us?
7:11
But to the best of your ability, what's the biggest obstacle to happiness in your generation?
7:20
I think it's two things.
7:22
Number one is we grow up with so much, uh, materially, that we've begun to take so much for granted.
7:33
We just expect so much to be there.
7:35
And when you have, as you've spoken about so many times in your book, on the show, when you have high expectations, it's hard for those expectations to be matched.
7:45
And when expectations aren't matched, you stop, you, it's harder to be happy.
7:50
So it's hard to have low expectations with so much materially.

But they were gonna ask you, uh, in light of, uh, your mom's and my divorce, your own happiness and its effect on you.
