What's the difference?
3:55
Yeah.
3:55
So I look at it a couple of different dimensions.
3:57
So generally a holding company, they're growing entirely inorganically, right? They're trying to buy new companies and then they want them to operate the exact same way and they'll patch together a bunch and they'll sell it at the end.
4:12
And there is integration or no? No.
4:15
A lot of holding companies do minimal integration, right? So they'll let them, maybe they'll put them on the same accounting system so they can consolidate financials, but they won't touch any of the ways in which they operate.
4:27
And ultimately, each branch just runs on its own.
6:30
Is that the primary reason or are there other driving factors

But tell me, first of all, why has this concept worked?
0:58
That's quite the opening question.
0:59
Why are you still on air after 10 years? No, it is a fair question, because on paper, you know, you really shouldn't think that a show about watching people watching telly should work.
1:12
But, you know, here we are, going into our 12th series, 10 years of the show, and it works a treat.
1:18
But the reason is, it's not just about people watching telly, like in its absolute simplest form it is, but it's about Irish people just being themselves, and you kind of get invited around for a chat.
1:31
with people all around the country in the exact same way that you would with your family and friends at home.
1:36
You're just having a natter at home, you know what I mean? All the families on the show are reflecting the kind of conversations that are going on all around every house in the country as it is.

2:56
yeah so tell us more about what what exactly you're looking for and how people can you know go through the application process
69:02
And, and the best people, uh, am I right in saying, for Gogglebox, are those ones who just, they don't necessarily want to be on TV?
69:10
No.
69:11
Uh, like, you're absolutely nailing the head.
69:13
'Cause, like, we...
69:14
Look, you know, inevitably, when you put a call out for a TV show, you'll get a lot of people who want to be on a TV show, and that is absolutely fine.
69:21
But with Gogglebox, you kind of, you want someone who- ... knows the reality, which is week in, week out, we'll be dropping into your house, you'll be inviting half the country in as well.
69:31
Uh, and, you know, you, you're, you want someone who's going to be having that conversation whether you're there or not, and not trying to kind of, you know, play up at all.

24:50
What is that spark that seems to just draw Irish people to Gogglebox Ireland?
24:56
Look, to be honest, I just think we have a very unique view on the world.
24:59
And it's not just about the telly that we're watching.
25:01
I just think Irish people have a very kind of compelling and unique view on what they're seeing around them and have a way to kind of distill it into a way that feels just like a very entertaining watch.
25:11
It's like having a chat in your own house.
25:13
That's the one thing I always feel like.
25:15
Obviously, we have to watch an awful lot more footage when we're sitting in the edit.

26:09
Is that correct?
67:14
I was with Campo the other night and he said, I think Stephen Rowe made the statement that Paddy had told the club 12 months out and he told whoever was in charge at the time, might have been Triggie, I'm not sure, or maybe Fagan, but when did you first know that he was not going to continue on?
67:39
Yeah, we probably, myself and Sarah, took Patty and Marty out for a bite to eat and about that 12 month mark and without sort of really just sitting there and saying we're going it was like you know the clock sort of ticking for us family wise you know you know we were sort of drawing back to mogs and so you're able to read between the lines and we just I just sort of said to him you know privately just work with us you know we if you are just give us a bit of time to work through what that looks like And apart from things that horrifically went south for the club that year, unfortunately with Walshie, I couldn't have asked any more of anyone that I've ever seen before, Timmy, to front up, to put in above and beyond his normal devotion to the club, of getting the player lounge together, to going to... functions and the way that he just promoted the club, not himself, was something I'll never forget.
68:49
How do you see that one playing out currently and can you read any body language?
68:56
I can read that it's a big decision for both.
69:00
I think I think the thing, and I'm sure Canva would back me up with Patty on this one, the honesty and the ability to have those really open conversations and for people to not lose their, so to speak, their sense of what needs to happen.
69:19
I think the way that you exit people and the way that people exit organisations needs to be managed as well as when you bring them in.
69:28
And I think for Port, if they're able to get a sense of what that looks like, he's devoted a heap of time and effort into that club, as Pat had.
69:37
So I think it's the maturity, being able to balance the decision, doesn't necessarily go your way.
6:18
I was with Campo the other night and he said, I think Stephen Rowe made the statement that Paddy had told the club 12 months out and he told whoever was in charge at the time, might have been Triggie, I'm not sure, or maybe Fagan, but when did you first know that he was not going to continue on?
