D

And what I would say is whatever your max practice distance is, and I got a good friend I've shot with him for years.
D

He is shooting an ultralight arrow with a 50 grain insert that is below minimum spec.

[Instrumental music] [applause] I wanna start by asking you to think back to when you were a kid playing with blocks.
D
1:16David MerrillGUEST
As you figured out how to reach out and grasp, pick them up, and move them around, you were actually learning how to think and solve problems by understanding and manipulating spatial relationships.
D
1:26David MerrillGUEST
Spatial reasoning is, uh, deeply connected to how we understand a lot of the world around us.

So as a computer scientist inspired by this utility of our interactions with physical objects, along with my advisor Patty and my collaborator Jeevan Kalanithi, I started to wonder, "What if when we use a computer, instead of having this one mouse cursor that was like a digital fingertip moving around a flat desktop, what if we could reach in with both hands and grasp information physically, arranging it the way we wanted?" This question was so compelling that we decided to explore the answer by building Siftables.

They're able to be moved around by hand, they can sense each other, they can sense their motion, and they have a screen and a wireless radio.

So just a brief message that Randy sent to us to encourage us and celebrate what we're setting out to do here.

I'm sorry that I cannot attend the launch of MMT UK that will carry on with the efforts started by the Gower Initiative to apply the findings of MMT scholars to policymaking in Britain.
D
20:29David MerrillGUEST
It is sad that British universities and research centers continue to push the thoroughly discredited neoliberalist approach to fiscal and monetary policy that is based on neoclassical economics, that cannot distinguish between the budget constraints faced by individual households and firms from the policy space available to a government that issues its own currency.
D
20:58David MerrillGUEST
It, our government, issues the pound, a currency with a long history that remains in demand by financial markets all over the world.

Come, go, and I watched him that whole week struggle where we didn't struggle.
D
11:51David MerrillGUEST
You know, we clip our bows and our Bow Spiders and walk off, and he's struggling with this.
D
11:54David MerrillGUEST
He put a sling on that crossbow, but you got one cam either digging into your leg, or you've spun it around, and it's just beating you to death on your back.
D
12:01David MerrillGUEST
So we launched that with that Picatinny rail mount, knowing full well that... we could launch this newest product called the Iron Spider, and we, we prototyped and used it all fall.
D
12:15David MerrillGUEST
I still love to send arrows, but you know, I got young kids I take hunting and take newbies hunting, and so a lot of times we're taking a firearm instead of a bow.
