So then when our crops are growing, they don't put roots in this ground that's completely full of water.

David KrugerGUEST
And about June 15th to July 1st, when that water would quit pushing out of the hills, the water would go away and the roots couldn't keep up through that sand.

David KrugerGUEST
So the idea was to try to slow down that drying process And I'd say the no-till helped some with that.

What has been something that's kind of got the the wheels turning in your mind as far as integrating some livestock and what has that process looked like for you?

So is there a way to retain some of the research and development of AI for these uses as against some of the more pernicious ones that many are concerned about?

David KrugerGUEST
So, you know, at Evitable, we're part of this movement to stop AI, essentially.

David KrugerGUEST
And what we mean by that is stop the race to build more and more powerful AI systems and put them in charge of everything.

David KrugerGUEST
And that's difficult to do as long as we still have companies, you know, going full throttle, scaling up these general purpose AI systems.

David KrugerGUEST
So there's lots of beneficial... potential beneficial uses of AI in medicine and for things like translation.
Amy GoodmanHOST
How would you compare this to that? What should be regulated, stopped from going forward, and what should be encouraged?

If America... or Canada, where you are, falls behind on this, do we not lose in a very, very big way?

David KrugerGUEST
You know, the issue is that if we keep building more powerful AI systems, we don't know that we're going to be able to stay in control of them.

David KrugerGUEST
We're talking about building things that are superhuman, that would sort of, in the best case, take everybody's jobs and just empower a bunch of tech oligarchs.

David KrugerGUEST
But again, just last week, we saw OpenAI lose control of one of their models and it got out of the box that they were trying to keep it in.

Is there a difference between those types of facilities and the AI data centers, or is it all just the same?

David KruegerGUEST
So one difference is just the kinds of computer chips that are used for AI are quite specialized.

David KruegerGUEST
So just in terms of the contents of the data center, you're gonna be seeing different kinds of computers in there for the AI data centers.

David KruegerGUEST
But the biggest difference is just the scope and the scale of this project and also the way that these projects are being rushed into production.

David KruegerGUEST
And that means a lot of sketchy things and bad things, including using lots of local diesel generators that can pollute the air of the community and lots of efforts to kind of fast-track production planning approval and bypass normal planning processes.

David KruegerGUEST
So for people on the ground, you know, this is very different and really kind of unprecedented thing.
Rich DeMuroHOST
How do we argue that? So, I mean, is there a difference there between what they're doing and what we're doing with our lawns? And by the way, I hate watering my lawn, but it
