but if i had to name the single most underused intervention it would be pulmonary rehabilitation it's a structured program of supervised exercise breathing techniques and education and the evidence behind it is honestly as strong as anything we have in respiratory medicine it improves breathlessness quality of life even reduces hospital admissions and yet referral rates are shockingly low in a lot of health systems i sometimes think if pulmonary rehab were a drug we'd be calling it a miracle treatment
