What is the voice of, does that mean he's the public information officer? Or do they call him the voice of Comic-Con? And he said, as soon as I walked into this thing years and years and years, decades ago, I knew I was home with my peeps.
8:37
I came in one year and I was like, oh my gosh, these people are like my tribe.
5:27
What are you doing to help keep those hotel prices low so fans can continue to come? And can you give us an update on whether or not the con is going to continue to stay in San Diego?
5:38
It really has been.
5:39
I'm glad you brought that up because I think a lot of people don't understand, you know, we do three-year contracts with hotels.
5:46
And the reason we do that is that it allows us a little bit of bargaining opportunity, you know, to make sure that we can get good rates for our attendees.
5:55
I think one of the catch-22s almost is, you know, we get told sometimes, well, you know, the studios can afford to pay these room rates.
6:05
And we say, well, that's true, but if attendees can't, then we won't have attendees.
6:10
And if we don't have attendees, then we won't have studios to present panels for them.
6:42
But what is it that when you stop and look around the floor and look around at all the people that still gives you that feeling of like, wow, I can't believe I still get to be a part of this after all these years?
11:52
But for you, when you first became officially part of staff, were you in your current title in marketing, or what position did you start in?
12:03
I was, and I don't remember my title.
12:05
I think it was... marketing it may have been marketing in public relations because at the time i really do advert i really did advertising i did um press releases and support the spokesperson all that kind of stuff but it really was try to promote the show and when i started the con when i started with the convention i think i started attending there was probably about i want to say maybe four or five thousand people i may have that wrong when i started volunteering i think it was probably that many or a little bit more And the idea really, I was really tasked with trying to increase the attendance.
12:43
And this is really true, is when I came to Comic-Con, my interest was film.
12:51
And I had read Richie Rich when I was younger.
12:54
I read Archie especially.
12:56
But I didn't have a vast knowledge of comics.
