You talk about this a lot, but could you explain kind of how the Bolsheviks happened and who the real power behind that was?
3:27
I mean, I'm not really a historian.
3:31
I am but a layman of history, but People sometimes mis-underestimate just how significant the Bolshevik revolution back in 1917 uprising, if you want to call it, actually was.
3:47
There's a huge amount of history on it, there's a huge amount of work, but it isn't something that's really ingrained in people's consciousness.
3:54
However, if you went back 100 years, 105, 110 years, it was the most pivotal moment because the Russian Empire at the time was a behemoth.
4:07
I mean, it really was.
4:08
It was absolutely massive.

30:14
I mean, we're understanding that now, but it's a little too late.
17:34
My first question, standard, why are you here? What are you coming to Edinburgh TV Festival
17:38
for? I guess it always feels like, you know, can we get some actual original intel? We obviously go to lots of different sessions and it does feel like an opportunity to hopefully hear something that is useful.
17:53
I suppose the other thing is it's a really good networking event.
17:57
You know, we sort of get the opportunity to meet commissioners you know, put some one-on-ones in, carry on the conversations, obviously, we have back at base.
18:06
What has been that intel then? What's been the most useful intel that you've had so far? We're obviously an unscripted company, so we're always focused on that.
18:15
But, you know, in that big unscripted space, it's thinking about the sort of big reality plays, the big sort of, you know, competition shows.
18:24
And obviously, you know, Traitors is there.
20:16
So, I mean, best of luck, obviously, with the box.
56:30
Won some awards and I guess do you come out of retirement from a voiceover perspective as well?
56:35
I mean, I did actually, yeah.
56:37
Much to, I think, Channel 4's, you know, probably disappointment that they were going to get someone new.
56:43
I think my voice is a bit croaky today because of, you know, too many late nights up here.
56:49
But no, it obviously was brilliant that it came back.
56:52
It was a long process to get it back on the screens.
56:58
And, you know, the team did an incredible job.
61:05
What's that process like?

296:09
The system's very corrupt, and this notion that you get to turn up every four years and you put a wee cross in a box, it's a humiliation ritual.
296:18
I've actually described it as that's what they used to do to illiterate sailors when you used to go in a, a, a...
296:23
You would turn up, so because you couldn't write your name, you just used to put an X, and that's what they do to you with voting.
296:29
They humiliate you.
296:30
You stand in a line and make you think you're doing something when, when you're not, and that's where we've now got this situation where, like, it's, people need to just always put themselves first and their families first.
296:43
The thing about violence, do you know who has the total monopoly on violence in this country? The government.
48:17
So what's your outlook for the future then? Do you have hope?
48:24
I think we always have to have hope, or else what's the point of getting up in the morning? But I think things are going to get a lot worse before they get any better.
48:30
I think this economic system will crash eventually.
48:33
It might happen next year.
48:35
It might happen in four or five years.
48:36
It might even happen in 10, but it will crash.
48:39
There's just too much debt in the system, and there's a real lack of productivity as well.
