Can you explain in plain terms what the Department of Education's RISE rule does and why it matters to PA students?

Absolutely.

So let's go into the Wayback Machine all the way back to the summer of 2025 when H.R. 1 was passed, the so-called Big Beautiful Bill.

And in that concept, they they talked about taking away the grad plus loans and putting different tiers of federal loan limits.

So in that concept, actually, the PA world was included, but there was a section of the law that was kind of talking about professions that could be included, but it was never meant to be all-inclusive.

Department of Education, unfortunately, went and took a hard read of that and took it very literally and tried to exclude PAs and many other professions, such as nurses and CRNAs and many, many others.

And the result would have been being able to take less money out in federal loans.

Where does the litigation stand today? And what should PAs and PA students understand about the current temporary relief? And if they want to help protect access to federal loans for the profession, what's the most useful thing they can do this PA week?
