So this may or may not be a familiar situation for many of you, but if you imagine 2 a.m. period of time and your adolescent daughter or niece is awake and on their own and markedly anxious.
26:48
She can't sleep.
26:49
She doesn't want to wake her parents.

Supporting teens or dealing with mental health struggles,
24:32
Um, I used to talk about a range of complementary approaches and what integrative care meant around mental health, but
24:38
butWe've all been wrestling more with questions about how social media and now AI are contributing to worsening mental health statistics in our youth, and it's become clear to me that as much as a range of integrative health topics apply to teen mental health, they're increasingly being dwarfed by the influences of technology.
24:59
So what-- I'm gonna try and cover a fair amount of ground and too much that w-w-could be normally crammed into this, so hopefully we'll have some time to talk about this afterwards.
25:10
Uh, including some of the data about the current teen mental health crisis.
25:14
Um, what do we know about the role of social media? Um, then where does AI fit into this picture, and what are our options for where we could go from here? So this would have been a lot of the content that I would have talked about before and, you know, show this slide because these pillars are really still applicable.
25:35
They're, they're a part of how we approach integrative care with an eye towards individual differences, individual circumstances, challenges and goals, uh, how do we apply a range of complementary modalities when we're thinking about adolescent mental health? And these all still apply, but to be honest, the, the, the effect sizes, specifically of a specific integrative interventions really seem modest compared to the influence that we're under now of technology.
26:08
And the landscape has changed.
