What do you document when you're documenting workers on strike?
22:58
Well, first of all, the photographs that I showed were ones that were taken in strikes that I was the organizer of, or organizer of strikes, so I had this dual role.
23:13
of being responsible for helping with the meetings, the food bank, getting people food, helping people make decisions that were necessary during the course of these strikes, and then picking up the camera and documenting them.
23:29
The first one was a strike at a small factory called Versatronics in Silicon Valley, which was the first strike of production workers.
23:36
in the Valley's history.
23:38
And then there was another really big strike in Southern California, Pomona, at a factory, a sweatshop, that made hot tubs called Kalspas.
23:49
I made this decision at the beginning of each of these strikes that I wanted to document it from beginning to end.

In other words, if they do ask them anything, it's just to say what happened right now in this place, in this moment, and then... bring in a separate expert to talk about the big picture, the policy debates, but it sounds like you purposely took a very different approach or do take a very different approach of that those are the people who have experienced this and they are the experts who not only can talk about what happened to them in this factory or in this situation, but what these forces are, why they had to migrate, what caused that.
