And isn't it so exciting to be surrounded by so many cool Braille things and Braille people? Well, I'm here with DotPad X, which is a tactile display that can show up to 10 lines of Braille or tactile graphics in a device that measures 9 by 11 inches and is just an inch thick.

I mean, no, obviously not.

When you have folks in their 70s, 80s and 90s, and listen, I hope to be one of those folks eventually in my 70s, 80s and 90s, but I should not be making policy on artificial intelligence, uh, technology, and they are.

They are crafting, uh, this legislation, and that's why they should lean on groups like Taxpayers Protection Alliance to look at these issues and give an unbiased look.

But now, let's get started with Dave Williams.

You know, it's funny.

You must have seen the gray hair online and said, that's the guy I want talking about Gen Z.

But I'll jump right into it.

And right now that the overall title for this group presentation today is all about cracking the generational code, talking about Gen Z to boomers and how they engage with the spirits and some touch of beverage alcohol, broader category.

So when I thought about the topic I was handed, the Gen Z consumer, I'm a baseball fan.

So my mind immediately went to how do I build the farm team of consumers? I think about Gen Z as the newest legal drinking age consumers able to come into our beautiful category.

But do you have any other examples where you're like, she's reframing my sexuality in ways that don't represent the truth?

Well, yeah.

I mean, yeah.

The ex-wife, she started labeling things.

My daughter said, well, this is the only thing that mass murderers do.

Only mass murderers are the ones that look at this stuff.

And so she was getting this story fed from the LDS people that Dave's this porn addict.

Where were you at in your faith journey? what led to you sort of sensing something wasn't true with the church and where were you in your faith journey at the time all of this stuff is happening

What was your thinking about that at the time?

I did put Braille down for a little while because I felt like it separated me from other people and I felt like it was, you know, weird and old-fashioned.

And I did have those.

Not every Braille learner gets joy from Braille initially.

It was only later when I needed to be able to... read a script or deliver a presentation, make notes at work, but also at home when I wanted to read the bedtime story that I began to recognise that braille means that as blind people we can do more of the same things that sighted people can do.

This brings us on to the question, however enthusiastic those children and this panel are about Braille, how sustainable is it as technology provides alternatives to doing everyday tasks, you know, including reading?

I'm very passionate about assistive technology and electronic braille.

But, you know, braille gives us an analogue way to read and write independently that we would not have, you know, if it were to go away.

Did you have a particular brand of TV you wanted to check

out? I'm curious which ones you think have the best accessibility features, really, for somebody who's blind.

I would definitely go back and ask for her again to help me find things that I wanted.

I think it was a bit more of a mixed bag on the technology front.

The lovely chap who was showing me the TV, he was a rep, which is fine, but obviously he wasn't able to show me any other TVs, you know, from other manufacturers, so...

It was a little bit more difficult for me, I think, to be able to compare and contrast.

And so obviously this training has been received by the staff who work for the store, but where you've got effectively a store within a store or a representative from one of the brands, they haven't necessarily had that training.

I think overall, good experience though.

When did that moment happen for you?

Well, um, what really kind of hatched, I guess the, uh, the beginnings of all this was, uh, just my career as, um, a distributor, uh, developing primarily American brands for the Canadian market.

And I had a successful career, but it usually ended when the brand I was developing for Canada was bought out.

Um, some of, some of these brands, um, were, uh, very big brands in the US and became purchased by even bigger companies.

And that usually took me out of my distributor position in Canada.

So there were some ups and downs in how all that worked out for my business and also my staff.

So the last time it happened, I decided that I should probably be looking for a brand whose destiny I could really control.
