Uh, but, uh, you know, in the wider context, so another big focus of the government is on the industrial strategy they published in February.

So this is a government that's been focused, uh, quite strongly both on moving forward quickly, which they've demonstrated to produce capability for the Canadian Armed Forces, but to also leverage those investments for wider economic gain in the defense sector in particular.

So, uh, you know, I do think at this point, gotta give them the benefit of the doubt that they're gonna deliver, uh, from a Canadian perspective, as much of that economic value as they think they can get from this really significant contract.

Um, I imagine they're gonna be very laser-like focused on making sure of that as part of this negotiation process.

I think one thing it'll be interesting to see, um, a bunch of other aspects about this so far have been done in a different, faster way.

Where, where does that leave the Canadian Navy in terms of its, its capacity to patrol three, uh, three oceans?

[laughs]

W- well, we, we always...

I knew that I was always gonna be in the ranching business, but it, we was also, when we first got married, I was a little distracted 'cause I also had a passion for, for roping in the rodeos and stuff and whatnot.

And my boss was nice enough to let us, let me and my brothers do that.

But we always knew that the ranching was what was gonna be it.

I mean, I was in college for three and a half years.

What was your first thought when you heard about this corruption, the breadth of it, and the allegations?

Yeah, I mean, my first thought was, you know, again, after trying to get myself back up after being so shocked and horrified was, you know, really a question, how and why did this happen? And who are these officers? Yeah.

You know, what is the connection? And, you know, how do we, how do we, this group of officers get so lost? And I don't, I don't say that in a supportive way, just the opposite way, frankly.

And, um, I think all of us you know members of the public and of course police officers who are also members of the public want and it's you know good to hear that obviously you know the Chief of Toronto and the Chief of York Region both came out very strong and very transparent about the allegations and and laid that out quite nicely and also Clayton Campbell who is the President of the Toronto Police Association also made his feelings known.

And I just want to reiterate that I don't know a single police officer that dislikes anything more than a corrupt cop.

You're saying that, is that a vestige of the past?

Well, I'm not going to say that it's a vestige of the past, but it's certainly a perception that people have.
