So profile is the combination of the circle that is created by your inflated leading edge, or if you've got a double-skinned kite, oh, well, the... yeah so you've got the your circle of your inflated leading edge and then you've got a uh the canopy and the canopy coming off your leading edge is not flat it has a curvature to it the combination of those two things create aerodynamic lift and um we could get into a huge debate between all of of well it isn't actually set The science still debates what actually makes profiles, like any aerodynamic profile, create lift.

Is it due to angle of attack in Newton's law of conservation of momentum, or is it Bernoulli effect of creating a lower pressure on the top surface? end of the day it's probably a combination of the two but the the profile creates lift between a combination of creating a lower pressure on the top of the kite than the bottom of the kite and also redirecting some of the air that's flowing across the kite down so and when you're pushing air down you get a corresponding reaction of pressure going up so That's what the profile does.

So we're talking about high aspect ratio kites, but you can have two kites with identical aspect ratio, one that is a looks like a more traditional sea kite so there's the center cord and the wing tip cord so the width and the center of the kite and the width of the wing tips are very close to the same or a more bow style kite which has a very very deep cord in the middle of the kite and a very skinny wing tip Those two kites will have very, very different handling characteristics and produce different amounts of power because the kite that is more even in its cord length has more fabric dedicated to the wingtips and more dedicated to the turning of the kite.

During our time at Air Rush, we did have a development lab, and I did help get that lab humming along but it was it was uh it wasn't as big as an ambition and ambitious as what we're doing here or what we had in New Zealand so this uh Red Sky Lab is about yeah let's let's get back let's get back to what we had in New Zealand but supercharge it with 15 years of 15 years of skills a much bigger network uh yeah a much wider uh or in a much bigger um footprint in the industry or represent reputation in the industry so yeah that's the that's where we come we came from now we had that la we had uh dk kite boards rurikaka kite sports in new zealand and it was based in a tiny little town called rurikaka and the nearest and we were 30 minutes drive away from a regional city called whangarei and whangarei as a commercial center I think it was probably 35 to 40,000 people.
