Um, over and above the growth of the baby and growth of the placenta and all the other metabolic activity that's going on.

We've been looking at how does leptin work in the brain and what changes and trying to understand that.

And the paper that we have in the special issue is the, our latest s- study in that area where we, what we wanted to do was actually look at the, the neuronal populations that are responding to these hormones and measure what they're doing, and we have this method now called fiber photometry, where we can express a, a, a calcium indicator in the cells- So then it, a- and then we can implant a fiber optic into the brain, and we can actually measure the activity of s- of neurons animal in real time.

And using sort of genetic tools, we can see exactly what population we're looking at.

So w- so we decided to focus on the, the, the AgRP neurons, which are known to be the main neurons that drive food intake.

And we just essentially wanted to see how does that population of cells change in pregnancy.
