So what led you to create the STAR program?
6:35
To be honest, when I was at PACE, it's an organization that I was hired to work at in 2000.
6:46
And PACE stands for Parents Advancing Choice in Education.
6:51
And a charity organization hired me and Angela Hayes.
6:58
It was just the two of us.
7:00
And we were in what was called a janitor's closet at first, working with Mary Lynn Naughton and Dr. T.J. Wallace.
7:10
And this organization had never existed.

2:50
It influenced me a lot, Harmony, because as the oldest at the time of 12, I started working at 15.
2:58
And my mom had gotten divorced.
3:00
And when I was growing up, it was seven of us.
3:02
But as mom remarried and dad remarried and had other kids, we were never taught to call them half or step.
3:09
So it was 12 of us.
3:10
And I realized my mother was struggling.
