And then I followed your Instagram and I was like, holy like roaming with crone and it's the name on instagram so i recommend everyone follow that page i've been following your story ever since and it's just been wild stuff so you left blackrock ga club in cork and you went to ross lair tell me what happened after that
23:24
yeah so i set off from a hurling club like it was incredible the the amount of people who came out and supported that which was yeah that was sick and yeah i had a Yeah, I got on the ferry, made it over to France and really started the journey from there and spent the next couple of months crossing Europe then, starting in France, Germany, Switzerland, crossed the Alps.
23:50
And yeah, it was tough going because in Africa, I got incredibly lucky.
23:55
Out of the 204 days I was out there, I was only on my own for about seven or eight of those days.
24:00
So I managed to get... get people to cycle with for the most of Africa.
24:04
Whereas on this trip to Everest Base Camp, I didn't get...
24:07
I'd say I was on my own for about 90% of it, which made it very, very tough because I'm addicted to talking.

And I
71:40
And a fella from the city texts you to say, come and stay at my place.
71:48
Yeah, I literally, it was one of the lowest points of any of these expeditions I've ever been on.
71:54
And that message was timed perfectly to the exact minute.
71:59
I was lost in my mind, lost in my thoughts.
72:01
And I get this message and it was like a bright light at the end of the tunnel.
72:07
And he sent a taxi through the chaos of the city to collect me, brought me to his home, took me in.
72:12
treated me like family like I couldn't have gotten any luckier and it gave me the opportunity to really sit down and think and try rationally think about what I was going to do next so then I I weighed up all the options I had like continuing forward going around all of my options and ultimately like with a heavy heart I did decide to to pause the expedition and take a A sabbatical, yeah, just to pause the expedition.
75:41
Do you know when you were there and you mentioned that your mind was in dark places, what were you thinking, Dara? at that time
73:23
How do you fund and cover the cost of a trip like that, Dara?
73:28
Yeah.
73:28
So with Africa, it was just working as many hours as possible.
73:31
And I became like, I was traveling for on and off for a couple of years before.
73:34
So I got really good at budgeting my money and planning and working towards these kinds of trips.
73:38
Like I done.
73:40
Yeah.
76:44
Talk me through the countries and how you plan to get from Cork to base camp in Mount Everest.
