Yeah
2:27
... and in life, and it's a, it's a little bit nervy.
2:30
You're not, you're not quite sure what's happening.
2:32
But what I'm hoping is it pulls a lot of, like, sort of the deadwood away from the jobs that we really wanna do, and there's less competition for the good jobs we're trying to do.
2:42
So I hope that it definitely does go ahead.
2:45
But looking at where they're, where they're situating them, and I, I don't know how true or not it is, they all seem to be around London and just north of London.
2:54
So it's not exactly like you'd need to, well, for me anyway, down south, I have to move very far to do that work.

6 MINS LATER

8:49
I, I, I never want to leave the electrical industry just because I, I want to be that conscious objector to the madness that it is.
34:14
Mm.
34:14
I would say if, if people are really thinking like that about growing a business and they hate that side of the business, uh, that, that's where when you're growing the business, you have to look at what exactly is it you're growing.
34:27
So for me, for example, when I'm growing a business, I'm like, "Well, I'm pretty good at the admin stuff and all of that part of it.
34:35
I might find it a bit boring and I like bouncing around on site and stuff like that, but these are my strengths." So me growing a business is let me try and find two or three people who are a bit like me on the tools, pretty good, and they can do that job for me.
34:49
So a- as, as you're growing, what is it you want? It sounds like with you two, you probably want someone actually that you need to employ that does all the admin part.
34:58
So you would be good looking at someone, a, a version of me, to come into your business and be like, "Right, you just crack on with the tools.
35:05
Don't worry about it.
35:49
Um, for every £100, um, that you earn, what percentage of that should be constitute profit? So as in you've been paid whatever day rate you wanted, and that's not including materials and stuff, but just proper profit that goes back into the business or behind the bar at the pub
1:43
Mm.
1:43
And then, um, once you get home, I ...
1:46
And as an electrician, I can upload regulations that are relevant, um, screenshot pages of the book, and then say, "With all the information you've got, now can you put together a full survey report with photos, time scales, reference BS numbers, all the key regulations, and draft that together?" It's gonna put that together for me in, like, less than a minute.
2:10
And these sorts of things in the past, I could have spent a day or two doing those surveys-

12 MINS LATER

14:22
Yeah
14:22
... bouncing around.
14:23
And then y- you always find you get drawn back to technology, but some people just like working with their hands.
14:29
They found it difficult in school with ADHD and things like this, and being on the tools, and there's nothing wrong with just being on the tools and taking direction from everybody else, and not using any of this stuff.
5:35
i go and see a bit of job that someone's done i have to bite my bottom lip to not scream at the
5:40
top of my voice that is shh yeah exactly like i've looked at just even a couple of fuse boards and i've seen people and i'm just disinfecting a couple of bits just to make sure it's a good level of work and and obviously the work is compliant and everything and i think why have you done that that way that looks like that would have took like another half hour to an hour but There's a way of trying to do it, but you can't do that every single time because you just can't.
6:05
And then what happens is they phone you every half hour.
6:09
What about this? What about that? If you want to stop those phone calls all day for silly little things like, oh, I can't get the cable through the conduit, and you're like four hours away, you're like, well, okay, well, I can't help you there, so you're going to have to figure it out.
6:22
To stop those phone calls, you've got to trust people.
6:24
Otherwise, you'll always have those phone calls.
6:26
Yeah.
7:55
and then
26:12
... like, after one year how much further you'd be with that idea, you know? So-
26:16
Me and Michael spoke about this a lot as well.
26:18
A, a uncanny thing used to happen to me really early on where I noticed that, and I tried to keep myself on the tools for just, like, three days, and I priced the work accordingly, so maybe I earned, like, 1,000 pound a week in those three days.
26:31
And the other two days...
26:32
There's this mindset, isn't there, that you've gotta earn 250 every day.
26:35
And I'm went, "No, I'll, I'll have 1,000 pound a week.
26:37
Three will be on the tools.
29:01
It's not, it's not worth it.
