How severe is this coverage gap on the ground in places, say around Bantry and in the general West Cork area?
21:07
Well, like, number one, I will say it here, like, as we know, we have a brilliant hospital here in Bantry with great management and staff, and, like, it is a centre of excellence.
21:18
But I had been getting a couple...
21:20
I got a couple of calls about where you had ambulances diverted from Bantry to CUH or the Mercy, and, like, you know, this is then now...
21:31
This was happening was there was no ambulance maybe available in the West Cork area.
21:37
Um...
21:38
Like even, I know I got a report back from the HGC, which stated, they came back saying that the recorded aversions periods were from, they gave me four different dates, which was the 8th of January this year, the 20th of January, the 9th of February and the 21st of March.
25:26
We need more resources and so be it if we need more ambulances.
1:21
He should've, yeah
1:22
... and Enjo's put it on a plate.
1:23
And then obviously Habib Diarra down below us gets in behind, feeds it across.
1:27
Leno doesn't get there, and it's a, it's an easy finish for Wilson to roll it into the empty net.
1:31
So I think over the, over the 90 minutes, I think Sunderland deserved it.
1:35
They shaded it, and then Fulham haven't showed enough.
1:37
I watched them against, uh, Chelsea Monday night.
2:59
The only team that got six points off us last year.
9:16
Mm.
9:16
So it's always a add-on product that needs to be added to the system.
9:22
There needs to be development on the system, and it still doesn't work 100%.
9:29
And in that lies the opportunities of a, a, an PaaS system that can cater specifically for the value added products industry.
9:43
Because the value added industry has actually become very big.
9:47
When I started Xissure in 2005, I was the very first guy to wanna insure excesses.
9:55
I was certainly the first guy that insured tires against pothole damage.
11:52
Now, taking that into account, looking at the landscape and all of these product providers, et cetera, what do you think the future is of value added products and excess products like yours?
54:32
"Ah, well, we'll talk to the stakeholders, and we'll look at it." You'd expect something a bit more solid than that.
54:38
that.I know, but like, what you got to, we, I, hopefully coming up to it, I, I have called also that we have public consultation for, um, uh, next year or maybe the end of this year.
54:48
Like, this is vital and our bu- the businesses and residents can come to these public consultation days and talk to, to, to chiefs and what the people in charge of this job, whether it's the county engineer and our, what you call, the, like, other stakeholders that will be involved in this job as well.
55:04
Like, you have, um, Iska Aaron, the OPW, ESB.
55:08
You know, it's, it's a massive job, um, PJ.
56:29
But are you asking that perhaps a part of the square be made a car park for the duration of the work?
56:37
Well, well, not for the duration of the work.
56:39
I'm looking for a new design after the works as well, that much that we, we create parking.

9:28
Well, well, that's why the duration of the work, I'm looking for a new design after the works as well.
9:33
That much that we, we create parking.
9:35
While we are doing this job, um, um, up, you know, taking up, we said, the middle of the square, that we, we create parking.
9:44
We p- we, we look at a new design.
9:46
I know our, um, our executive has said that they don't want to do these works until we are looking at doing the Bantry flood relief scheme.
9:57
But like, as I said to, to, to our chief there last week, I says, "We are told it's gonna be be 2032 before the Bantry flood relief scheme is gonna be started." And you know, that could be 2040.
10:09
Yes, it could.
32:11
So now with the benefit of hindsight, how would you characterize what you learned most, I would say, from last year's experience?
32:19
Yeah.
32:19
I think last year, there were positives that you need to learn from and continue to grow.
32:26
And then there's negatives that you need to grow.
32:28
And at the end of the day, any job you're in, you're constantly preparing for that next opportunity.
32:37
But you really don't know exactly what's going to happen until you're really in the chair.
32:43
And you can prepare as well as you can, but then there's going to be certain things that happen to you that you may not have thought about because you were never in those shoes before.
37:22
Why were they two guys from the portal that you guys aggressively pursued? And then what have you seen from them, those two specifically, since they've been on campus since January?
9:56
When you look at where Devin fits with this line, how do you foresee him making an impact in this group with what pieces they've already got, the versatility that you mentioned? What gives him the best chance to be successful when you look at what they've already got on board on that defensive line for Mike McDonald and company?
10:17
Yeah, you know, I think in order to be a great player, you have to be surrounded by great players, and I think that's a huge advantage that Devin has, you know, coming into the, the, the organization is they're loaded at that position, which again, it gives him the ability to get some blows on the sideline, and then when he's able to go, he's gonna be able to give you everything he has.
10:39
I mean, I think that's the, the strength of having depth like that.
10:42
Especially on the D line, you're able to rotate, you're able to keep guys fresh.
10:47
And, you know, with an offensive line, you know, you got those five guys out there the whole entire game.
10:53
When you're subbing in and out D linemen over and over and over again, uh, that's really hard, uh, for an offensive line to, to handle, and that's why I think this situation with him is, is awesome because there's so many great players around him.
11:07
I think the, the Seahawks do such a great job, uh, on first and second down with their stunts, and then on third down, just letting the, the blitzes go vertical and, you know, getting home in, you know, 2.5 to 2.6 seconds.
12:00
But when you look at the journey he's had off the field as a person, how do you see his character fitting what the Seahawks are all about with, with the emphasis that they have on leadership and accountability?
5:27
Is, is that something that you always felt through your career? On- once that goal goes in, it transforms a game?
5:33
Yeah.
5:33
I mean, without getting into the stats, I think, you know, you, you look at it, if you get the first goal then obviously y- you're in charge really, aren't you? The opposition have got to come out at some stage, try and, try and break you down.
5:42
And then you can try and capitalize on the counter or however a game pans out.
5:46
But certainly, you know, looking at, again, Sunderland's stats this year, the first defeat was well into the season against Liverpool, a 1-0 defeat at the stadium.
5:55
And then they had two against Brighton, and um, and Fulham come to the stadium and won.
5:58
But then they bounced back, as I say, against Spurs.

67:25
Why has the work not happened?
67:28
Basically, I suppose, really, this is a job.
67:31
That report, yes, was done at the time by Malachy, Walsh and Partners in 2018.
67:35
And what he claimed was, what they claimed back, what the report came back saying, that there was 500 metres of the 950-metre culverts were in urgent need of repair.
67:47
And, like, since then, like, you have different departments you have to deal with here.
67:52
You have the roads, you have Irish Water, you have AIR, you have DOPW.
67:58
And that's what's delaying the whole thing.
68:59
I mean, that's just simply not good enough.
15:22
I mean, is that a reduction from, let's say, 15, 20 years ago?
15:27
Yes, it has been, it has come down basically, but like That just shows the response I got, that there was only 14 respite beds available in West Cork alone.
15:37
There was four in Sonic Gildersleeve, three in Dunmanway, two in Scull, three in Skibbereen and two in Castellon Bear.
15:44
I tell you, JP, some weeks we could fill that out double, you know, with remote calls between Michael Collins' office and people calling me.
15:55
I had a situation there, we'd say about a year back, where a gentleman who was in hospital, who had a very, very serious operation, had been inside the hospital for at least six or seven weeks.
16:05
And he said, Danny, he says, the hospital want me out.
16:08
He says...

And that is due to the size of Cork, but we're not getting our fair allocation for the size of Cork compared to other counties who are smaller size-wise than we are here in Cork County.
