What makes it so hard to sing well? And what did you work on with the choir in rehearsal?

Yeah, I should have brought my score.

It's in four parts, and the rhythm for each part is basically the same, bar to bar.

It's in four.

This part comes in on beat one, this part comes in on beat three, this part comes in on beat four.

And it looks so easy.

And it's really representative of this style that Arvo Pärt writes in, which he calls Tintinabuli, which means little bells.

Why was she drawn to it?

You are the chief of programming, in effect, for the Mendelssohn self-produced concerts.

Right.

This sets us aside from a lot of the symphonic choruses, especially the predominantly volunteer choruses that exist around the country in that we have this wonderful partnership with the PSO that we value and that provides us with so much artistic excitement and also a lot of wonderful support within the community.

But then we get to step out on our own and focus on some programming that we want to do, works that perhaps we wouldn't do with the symphony or programs that have a message that we want to be sure that we establish.

This is what Mendelssohn wants to say in this community.

So this season, we have two such programs.

One is called In Time of War.
