So yes, a lot going on related to anti-psychiatry, but not, not totally anti-psychiatry either, and this is MAHA, Make America Healthy Again, which is a very broad vision of how we can pursue health as a country, but it includes psychiatry.

Daniel MoreheadGUEST
And I have to say, as a psychiatrist, I was very uncertain and a little nervous as the current Health and Human Services secretary came in and there were news stories, you know, statements either in the confirmation hearings or in other media about saying antidepressants were like, trying to get off those was like getting off opiates, or maybe they were behind some mass shootings or, you know, some things that sounded like maybe anti-psychiatric medicines in general.

Daniel MoreheadGUEST
So as all this has developed and worked its way through the system down toward actual government initiatives, I think for me it's, things are looking more promising.

Daniel MoreheadGUEST
Um, in terms of my own opinions, um, there's a mix of things I like and don't like so much in it, and the, the headline, which is from their website, of that their, their big psychiatric initiative is to curb psychiatric over-prescribing.

Daniel MoreheadGUEST
I'm a little bit sensitive to that as a doctor who prescribes, and wondering, how do they know when we're over-prescribing and when we're not? But on the other hand, uh, the least amount of medicine that works for somebody is the best, and the way they've gone with that is not so much trying to get rid of psychiatrists or our ability to prescribe, but to do educational initiatives that, uh, help people be mindful of de-prescribing when it's appropriate, and also there's a lot of talk, at least, in some initiatives about trying to bolster psychosocial approaches like psychotherapy and group therapy and intensive outpatient treatment, and that part I love.

On their website, they actually have a blurb about your book where it's described as, "It seeks to turn recognition of psychiatric illness into practical behavior." What, what does that mean?
